The Lord says to my lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,“ Rule in the midst of your enemies!”Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:“ You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:“ The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:‘ You are a priest forever.’”Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.Such a high priest truly meets our need— one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate,“ Do not write‘ The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.Pilate answered,“ What I have written, I have written.”

Jesus said,“ My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”“ You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered,“ You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’“ Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

“ Say to Daughter Zion,‘ See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,“ Hosanna to the Son of David!”“ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“ Hosanna in the highest heaven!”When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked,“ Who is this?”The crowds answered,“ This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

“ Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets to a rich pastureland, I will chase Edom from its land in an instant. Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this? Who is like me and who can challenge me? And what shepherd can stand against me?”

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are— yet he did not sin.Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Instead, they will serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the warhorses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.

Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”

Then he said,“ May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” He answered,“ For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.

Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength?“ It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.”

Then Abraham spoke up again:“ Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes,

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance— now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.He said,“ This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies.In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.

I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.

You asked,‘ Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.“ You said,‘ Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”
