Therefore all who devour you will be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity; And those who plunder you will become plunder, And all who plunder you I will turn into plunder.

“‘ But all who devour you will be devoured; all your enemies will go into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered; all who make spoil of you I will despoil.

“ But everyone who destroys you will be destroyed. All your enemies will be forced to leave their countries. Those who steal from you will be stolen from. I will take the belongings of those who take things from you.

Therefore all who devour you shall be devoured, and all your foes, every one of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall be plundered, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.

“ But all who devour you will be devoured, and all your enemies will be sent into exile. All who plunder you will be plundered, and all who attack you will be attacked.

Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, and all your adversaries— all of them— will go off into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who raid you will be raided.

‘ Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; Those who plunder you shall become plunder, And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.

Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that despoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You, And on the families who do not call upon Your name; For they have devoured Jacob; They have devoured him and consumed him, And have laid waste his settlement.

Woe to you, destroyer, While you were not destroyed; And he who is treacherous, while others did not deal treacherously with him. As soon as you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; As soon as you cease to deal treacherously, others will deal treacherously with you.

The peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will make them their own possession in the land of the Lord as male and female servants; and they will take their captors captive and will rule over their oppressors.

For the Lord of armies says this:“ After glory He has sent me against the nations that plunder you, for the one who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.

But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.

You will be filled with disgrace rather than honor. Drink, you yourself, and expose your own foreskin! The cup in the Lord’s right hand will come around to you, And utter disgrace will come upon your glory.

They have heard that I groan; There is no one to comfort me, All my enemies have heard of my disaster; They are joyful that You have done it. Oh, that You would bring the day which You have proclaimed, So that they will become like me.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The sons of Israel are oppressed, And the sons of Judah as well; And all who took them captive have held them firmly, They have refused to let them go.Their Redeemer is strong, the Lord of armies is His name; He will vigorously plead their case So that He may bring rest to their land, But turmoil to the inhabitants of Babylon.A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares the Lord,“ And against the inhabitants of Babylon And against her leaders and her wise men!A sword against the oracle priests, and they will become fools! A sword against her warriors, and they will be shattered!A sword against their horses, against their chariots, And against all the foreigners who are in the midst of her, And they will become women! A sword against her treasures, and they will be plundered!A drought on her waters, and they will be dried up! For it is a land of idols, And they go insane at frightful images.“ Therefore the desert creatures will live there with the jackals; The ostriches also will live in it. It will never again be inhabited Nor lived in from generation to generation.As when God overthrew Sodom And Gomorrah with its neighbors,” declares the Lord,“ No one will live there, Nor will anyone of mankind reside in it.

“ Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes staggering to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.

But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, He has set me down like an empty vessel; He has swallowed me like a monster, He has filled his stomach with my delicacies; He has washed me away.May the violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon,” The inhabitant of Zion will say; And,“ May my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,” Jerusalem will say.Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to plead your case And take vengeance for you; And I will dry up her sea And make her fountain dry.Babylon will become a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, An object of horror and hissing, without inhabitants.

If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the Lord, Because they have been only a staff made of reed to the house of Israel.

I will also sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a distant nation,” for the Lord has spoken.

Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non existent.

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.

May all who hate Zion Be put to shame and turned backward;

And now many nations have been assembled against you Who say,‘ Let her be defiled, And let our eyes gloat over Zion!’

Since you have had everlasting hostility and have turned over the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their disaster, at the time of the punishment of the end,

Then my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who said to me,“ Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will look at her; At that time she will be trampled down Like mud of the streets.

“ I have heard the taunting of Moab And the abusive speech of the sons of Ammon, With which they have taunted My people And boasted against their territory.

This is what the Lord says concerning all My wicked neighbors who do harm to the inheritance with which I have endowed My people Israel:“ Behold, I am going to drive them out of their land, and I will drive the house of Judah out from among them.

and to all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the earth which are on the face of the ground; and the king of Sheshach shall drink it after them.“ And you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the sword which I am sending among you.” ’And if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ You shall certainly drink!For behold, I am beginning to inflict disaster on this city which is called by My name, so should you be completely free from punishment? You will not be free from punishment, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth,” declares the Lord of armies.’

If anyone fiercely attacks you, it will not be from Me. Whoever attacks you will fall because of you.

‘ Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,’ declares the Lord,‘ for their wrongdoing, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation.

No weapon that is formed against you will succeed; And you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.

and say to the sons of Ammon,‘ Hear the word of the Lord God! This is what the Lord God says:“ Because you said,‘ Aha!’ against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went into exile,therefore, behold, I am going to give you to the people of the east as a possession, and they will set up their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk.I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and the sons of Ammon a resting place for flocks. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”For this is what the Lord God says:“ Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, and have rejoiced with all the malice in your soul against the land of Israel,therefore, behold, I have reached out with My hand against you and I will give you as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and eliminate you from the lands. I will exterminate you. So you will know that I am the Lord.”

Israel was holy to the Lord, The first of His harvest. All who ate of it became guilty; Evil came upon them,” declares the Lord.’ ”

All who found them have devoured them; And their adversaries have said,‘ We are not guilty, Since they have sinned against the Lord who is the habitation of righteousness, The Lord, the hope of their fathers.’“ Wander away from the midst of Babylon And go out from the land of the Chaldeans; Be like male goats at the head of the flock.For behold, I am going to rouse and bring up against Babylon A contingent of great nations from the land of the north, And they will draw up their battle lines against her; From there she will be taken captive. Their arrows will be like an expert warrior Who does not return empty handed.Chaldea will become plunder; All who plunder her will have enough,” declares the Lord.“ Because you are glad, because you are jubilant, You who pillage My heritage, Because you skip about like a threshing heifer And neigh like stallions,

Rejoice and be joyful, daughter of Edom, Who lives in the land of Uz; But the cup will pass to you as well, You will become drunk and expose yourself.The punishment of your wrongdoing has been completed, daughter of Zion; He will no longer exile you. But He will punish your wrongdoing, daughter of Edom; He will expose your sins!

Daughter of Babylon, you devastated one, Blessed will be one who repays you With the retribution with which you have repaid us.Blessed will be one who seizes and dashes your children Against the rock.

“ Son of man, because Tyre has said in regard to Jerusalem,‘ Aha! The gateway of the peoples is broken; it has opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,’therefore this is what the Lord God says:‘ Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.They will destroy the walls of Tyre and tear down her towers; and I will sweep her debris away from her and make her a bare rock.She will become a dry place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord God;‘ and she will become plunder for the nations.Also her daughters who are on the mainland will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am the Lord.’ ”For the Lord God says this:“ Behold, I am going to bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses, chariots, cavalry, and a great army.He will kill your daughters on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, pile up an assault ramp against you, and raise up a large shield against you.And he will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls, and he will tear down your towers with his axes.Because of the multitude of his horses, the dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will shake from the noise of cavalry, wagons, and chariots when he enters your gates as warriors enter a city that is breached.With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword, and your strong pillars will go down to the ground.Also they will take your riches as spoils and plunder your merchandise, tear down your walls and destroy your delightful houses, and throw your stones, your timbers, and your debris into the water.So I will put an end to the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will no longer be heard.I will turn you into a bare rock; you will become a dry place for the spreading of nets. You will not be rebuilt, for I the Lord have spoken,” declares the Lord God.The Lord God says this to Tyre:“ Will the coastlands not shake from the sound of your downfall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter takes place in your midst?Then all the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their colorfully woven garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble again and again, and be appalled at you.And they will take up a song of mourning over you and say to you,‘ How you have perished, you inhabited one, From the seas, you famous city, Which was mighty on the sea, She and her inhabitants, Who imposed her terror On all her inhabitants!Now the coastlands will tremble On the day of your downfall; Yes, the coastlands which are by the sea Will be horrified at your passing.’ ”For this is what the Lord God says:“ When I make you a desolate city, like the cities which are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you and the great waters cover you,then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you remain in the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will put glory in the land of the living.I will cause you sudden terrors and you will no longer exist; though you will be sought, you will never be found again,” declares the Lord God.

“ Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven them away. The first one who devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one who has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

So the angel who was speaking with me said to me,“ Proclaim, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.

“ Sit silently, and go into darkness, Daughter of the Chaldeans; For you will no longer be called The queen of kingdoms.I was angry with My people, I profaned My heritage And handed them over to you. You did not show mercy to them, On the aged you made your yoke very heavy.

There is a sound of fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, Vengeance for His temple.
