Therefore the showers have been withheld, and no spring rains have fallen. Yet you have the brazen look of a prostitute; you refuse to blush with shame.

So I have held back the showers. I have kept the spring rains from falling. But you still have the bold face of a prostitute. You refuse to blush with shame.

Therefore the showers have been withheld, and the spring rain has not come; yet you have the forehead of a whore; you refuse to be ashamed.

That’s why even the spring rains have failed. For you are a brazen prostitute and completely shameless.

This is why the showers haven’t come— why there has been no spring rain. You have the brazen look of a prostitute and refuse to be ashamed.

Therefore the showers have been withheld, And there has been no spring rain. Yet you had a prostitute’s forehead; You refused to be ashamed.

爾恃強之驕傲、我必毀之、並使爾天若鐵、爾地若銅、

地不得雨、土壤燥裂、耕者含羞、而蒙其首、

異邦虛無之物、有能降雨者乎、天能自施甘霖乎、我之上帝耶和華歟、行此者非爾乎、故我仰望爾、蓋此諸事、皆爾所為也、

覆爾之天如銅、載爾之地如鐵、

彼不自謂、我當寅畏我上帝耶和華、彼降秋雨春雨、各適其時、為我定厥穡期、

糈糧豈非絕於我目前乎、欣喜歡樂、豈非絕於我上帝室乎、穀種枯於鋤下、倉虛廩毀、禾稼憔悴、牲畜哀鳴、牛羣以無草而散亂、羊羣亦皆困苦、耶和華歟、我呼籲爾、火燬野間之草場、燄焚田間之諸木、野獸向爾而喘、蓋溪流涸竭、野間草場、為火所燬也、

我命旱乾臨於斯土山岡、穀酒與油、暨地所產、其人與畜、爰及爾手勞而得者、○

穫前三月、我禁厥雨、惟雨此邑、不雨彼邑、一田得雨、他田無雨、則枯槁焉、

彼行可惡之事、豈知恥乎、非也、毫不知恥、亦不赧顏、故必仆於仆者之中、我譴責之際、彼必顚躓、耶和華言之矣、

惟以色列家、顙堅心頑、必不聽爾、以其不聽我也、

耶和華歟、爾目非顧信實乎、爾擊之、彼不懷憂、爾滅之、彼不受教、惟自堅其顏、逾於磐石、不肯歸誠、

孰為智者、克明斯事、耶和華與誰言、使之宣告、斯土何為被燬遭焚、有若曠野、無人經之、

語爾者慎勿拒之、蓋拒在地之傳命者、尚不得逭、況違夫自天者乎、

在其中之耶和華乃義、不行不義、旦旦彰其公義、無有間斷、惟彼不義之輩、弗知愧恥、

主耶和華曰、爾行此事、乃無恥之淫婦所為、爾心何其荏弱哉、爾在各衢作穹廬、在各街築高臺、爾之異乎妓者、輕視其值也、為婦而行淫乎、背夫而私人乎、人以物贈妓、惟爾以物贈情人、賄之四集、與爾行淫、爾行淫之異乎他婦者、非人從爾行淫也、且爾以金予人、非人以金予爾、是亦相異也、○

惟彼不從、而轉其肩、塞耳不聽、鐵石其心、不聽法律、與萬軍之耶和華以其神藉古先知所傳之言、緣此、萬軍之耶和華大發其怒、

不肯順從、不念爾於其中所行之奇事、強項悖逆、自立一帥、欲返奴隸之境、惟爾上帝、樂於赦宥、仁慈矜憫、遲於發怒、富有恩惠、不離棄之、
