「人子啊，你拿一根杖來，寫上『猶大和他的以色列同伴』，然後再拿另一根杖，寫上『約瑟，即以法蓮，與他的以色列同伴』。然後把這兩根杖連成一根，拿在手中。當你的同胞問你這是什麼意思時，你就告訴他們，主耶和華這樣說，『我要把約瑟和他的以色列同伴的杖，就是以法蓮手中的杖，與猶大的杖在我手中連成一根。』你要拿著這兩根寫著字的杖讓他們看，告訴他們，主耶和華這樣說，『我要把以色列的百姓從他們分散的各國招聚起來，領他們回歸故土。我要使他們在以色列的土地和群山上成為一國，只有一位王統治他們，不再分為兩個國家。

耶和華說：「以法蓮用謊話包圍我，以色列家用詭詐環繞我；猶大依然背離聖潔、信實的上帝。

耶和華說，『看啊，時候將到，我要使我被擄的子民——以色列人和猶大人回到故土，回到我賜給他們祖先的土地上。這是耶和華說的。』」

那時，在以色列必找不到過犯，在猶大必找不到罪惡，因為我必赦免我保留下來的餘民。這是耶和華說的。

「因此，主耶和華說，『我要使雅各被擄的人回到故土，我要憐憫全以色列人，熱心維護我的聖名。當他們在故土安居，沒有人來威脅他們的時候，他們就會忘記自己所有的羞辱和得罪我的惡事。我從列國把他們領回，從敵國把他們召回來的時候，我要藉著他們向列國彰顯我的聖潔。我讓他們被擄到各國，將來必召集他們返回故土，不撇下一人。這樣，他們便知道我是他們的上帝耶和華。

「我必使猶大家強盛，我必拯救約瑟家。我必帶他們回到故土，因為我憐憫他們。他們必好像從未被我拋棄一樣，因為我是他們的上帝耶和華，我必應允他們的禱告。
