Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

Then I will give you shepherds who are dear to my heart. Their knowledge and understanding will help them lead you.

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.

I will give you shepherds who are loyal to me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill.

I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord. (niv)

Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. (niv)

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly— mere infants in Christ.I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. (niv)

Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,“ This is the way; walk in it.” (niv)

He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” (niv)

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit- taught words. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, (niv)
