I will give you leaders who will be faithful to me. They will lead you with knowledge and insight.

Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

Then I will give you shepherds who are dear to my heart. Their knowledge and understanding will help them lead you.

“‘ And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.

I will give you shepherds who are loyal to me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill.

“ Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you knowledge and understanding.

And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

I will give you shepherds who are loyal to Me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill.

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

I will install rulers over them who will care for them. Then they will no longer need to fear or be terrified. None of them will turn up missing. I, the LORD, promise it!

Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.

I will set one shepherd over them, and he will feed them– namely, my servant David. He will feed them and will be their shepherd.

It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,

Then when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these do?” He replied,“ Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” Jesus told him,“ Feed my lambs.”Jesus said a second time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He replied,“ Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” Jesus told him,“ Shepherd my sheep.”Jesus said a third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that Jesus asked him a third time,“ Do you love me?” and said,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus replied,“ Feed my sheep.

So, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready,

The sovereign master will give you distress to eat and suffering to drink; but your teachers will no longer be hidden; your eyes will see them.You will hear a word spoken behind you, saying,“ This is the correct way, walk in it,” whether you are heading to the right or the left.

“‘ My servant David will be king over them; there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my regulations and carefully observe my statutes.

The teaching of the righteous feeds many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.

The Lord replied,“ Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his household servants, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?

Now we do speak wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are perishing.

So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you:Give a shepherd’s care to God’s flock among you, exercising oversight not merely as a duty but willingly under God’s direction, not for shameful profit but eagerly.And do not lord it over those entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock.Then when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.

He will assume his post and shepherd the people by the LORD’s strength, by the sovereign authority of the LORD his God. They will live securely, for at that time he will be honored even in the distant regions of the earth.He will give us peace. Should the Assyrians try to invade our land and attempt to set foot in our fortresses, we will send against them seven shepherd-rulers, make that eight commanders.

But now your kingdom will not continue! The LORD has sought out for himself a man who is loyal to him and the LORD has appointed him to be leader over his people, for you have not obeyed what the LORD commanded you.”

For though you should in fact be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you the beginning elements of God’s utterances. You have gone back to needing milk, not solid food.For everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness, because he is an infant.But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.

“ I tell you the solemn truth, the one who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber.The one who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.The doorkeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.When he has brought all his own sheep out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him, because they do not recognize the stranger’s voice.”

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.

And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,
