I will give you shepherds who are loyal to me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill.

Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

Then I will give you shepherds who are dear to my heart. Their knowledge and understanding will help them lead you.

And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.

“ Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you knowledge and understanding.

And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

I will give you leaders who will be faithful to me. They will lead you with knowledge and insight.

I will raise up shepherds over them who will tend them. They will no longer be afraid or discouraged, nor will any be missing.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

I will establish over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will shepherd them. He will tend them himself and will be their shepherd.

For my part, brothers and sisters, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ.I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, since you were not yet ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready,

The Lord will give you meager bread and water during oppression, but your Teacher will not hide any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher,and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you:“ This is the way. Walk in it.”

My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my ordinances, and keep my statutes and obey them.

The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.

The Lord said,“ Who then is the faithful and sensible manager his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food at the proper time?

He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD his God. They will live securely, for then his greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.He will be their peace. When Assyria invades our land, when it marches against our fortresses, we will raise against it seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.

but now your reign will not endure. The LORD has found a man after his own heart, and the LORD has appointed him as ruler over his people, because you have not done what the LORD commanded.”

Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God’s revelation again. You need milk, not solid food.Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant.But solid food is for the mature— for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil.

“ Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber.The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice.They will never follow a stranger; instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.”

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.

Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow up into your salvation,
