“ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to be the overseer of the house of the Lord for every insane person who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and in the iron collar.

耶和華俾爾為祭司、以代耶何耶大、兼在耶和華殿為督、凡狂妄者流、自稱為先知、俾爾執之、囚之於獄、加以桎梏。

西番亞、主立爾為祭司、以代祭司耶何耶大、督理主殿、使爾執諸狂妄自稱為先知者、囚之於獄、加以桎梏、

‘ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada to be in charge of the house of the Lord; you should put any maniac who acts like a prophet into the stocks and neck-irons.

“ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada. He has put you in charge of the Lord’ s house. You are supposed to arrest any crazy person who claims to be a prophet. You should put him in prison. You should put iron bands around his neck.

‘ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the Lord over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and neck irons.

“ The Lord has appointed you to replace Jehoiada as the priest in charge of the house of the Lord. You are responsible to put into stocks and neck irons any crazy man who claims to be a prophet.

‘ The LORD has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada to be the chief officer in the temple of the LORD, responsible for every madman who acts like a prophet. You must confine him in the stocks and an iron collar.

“ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, so that there should be officers in the house of the Lord over every man who is demented and considers himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison and in the stocks.

Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles.

“ The LORD has made you priest in place of Jehoiada. He has put you in charge in the LORD’s temple of controlling any lunatic who pretends to be a prophet. And it is your duty to put any such person in the stocks with an iron collar around his neck.

“ Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief overseer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks that were at the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of the Lord.

Now Jehu went out to the servants of his master, and one said to him,“ Is everything well? Why did this crazy fellow come to you?” And he said to them,“ You know very well the man and his talk.”

Many of them were saying,“ He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”

The days of punishment have come, The days of retribution have come; Let Israel know this! The prophet is a fool, The inspired person is insane, Because of the grossness of your wrongdoing, And because your hostility is so great.

While Paul was stating these things in his defense, Festus* said in a loud voice,“ Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning is driving you insane.”

And when His own people heard about this, they came out to take custody of Him; for they were saying,“ He has lost His senses.”

“ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,and the sign or the wonder comes true, of which he spoke to you, saying,‘ Let’s follow other gods( whom you have not known) and let’s serve them,’you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken falsely against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to drive you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall eliminate the evil from among you.

and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

So now, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who prophesies to you,

And if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him,‘ You shall not live, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the Lord’; and his father and mother who gave birth to him shall pierce him through when he prophesies.Also it will come about on that day that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a hairy robe in order to deceive;but he will say,‘ I am not a prophet; I am a cultivator of the ground, because a man sold me as a slave in my youth.’And someone will say to him,‘ What are these wounds between your arms?’ Then he will say,‘ Those with which I was wounded at the house of my friends.’

As they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,

When He entered the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said,“ By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”

and I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and so escaped his hands.

So they took Jeremiah and threw him into the cistern of Malchijah the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guardhouse; and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. Now in the cistern there was no water but only mud, and Jeremiah sank into the mud.

You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died, are You? The prophets died too. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?”

So Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was captured.

The Jews answered Him,“ We are not stoning You for a good work, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.”

And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and since I was extremely enraged at them, I kept pursuing them even to foreign cities.

And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were appointed over the army and said to them,“ Bring her out between the ranks, and whoever follows her, put to death with the sword!” For the priest said,“ She is not to be put to death at the house of the Lord.”

Now when the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what would come of this.

And all the people of the land came to the house of Baal and tore it down; they thoroughly smashed his altars and his images in pieces, and they killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. Then the priest appointed sentries over the house of the Lord.

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

and say,‘ This is what the king says:“ Put this man in prison, and feed him enough bread and water to survive until I return safely.” ’ ”

Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at the same time.

For if we have lost our minds, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you.For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf.

They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public prison.
