‘ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada the priest to be the chief officer in the temple of the Lord, responsible for every madman who acts like a prophet. You must confine him in the stocks and an iron collar.

耶和華俾爾為祭司、以代耶何耶大、兼在耶和華殿為督、凡狂妄者流、自稱為先知、俾爾執之、囚之於獄、加以桎梏。

西番亞、主立爾為祭司、以代祭司耶何耶大、督理主殿、使爾執諸狂妄自稱為先知者、囚之於獄、加以桎梏、

‘ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada to be in charge of the house of the Lord; you should put any maniac who acts like a prophet into the stocks and neck-irons.

“ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada. He has put you in charge of the Lord’ s house. You are supposed to arrest any crazy person who claims to be a prophet. You should put him in prison. You should put iron bands around his neck.

‘ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the Lord over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and neck irons.

“ The Lord has appointed you to replace Jehoiada as the priest in charge of the house of the Lord. You are responsible to put into stocks and neck irons any crazy man who claims to be a prophet.

‘ The LORD has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada to be the chief officer in the temple of the LORD, responsible for every madman who acts like a prophet. You must confine him in the stocks and an iron collar.

“ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to be the overseer of the house of the Lord for every insane person who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and in the iron collar.

“ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, so that there should be officers in the house of the Lord over every man who is demented and considers himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison and in the stocks.

Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles.

The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man[ that is] mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.

“ The LORD has made you priest in place of Jehoiada. He has put you in charge in the LORD’s temple of controlling any lunatic who pretends to be a prophet. And it is your duty to put any such person in the stocks with an iron collar around his neck.

“ Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer and chief official in the temple of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.So Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks at the Upper Benjamin Gate in the Lord’s temple.

When Jehu came out to his master’s servants, they asked,“ Is everything all right? Why did this crazy person come to you?” Then he said to them,“ You know the sort and their ranting.”

Many of them were saying,“ He has a demon and He’s crazy! Why do you listen to Him?”

The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have come. Let Israel recognize it! The prophet is a fool, and the inspired man is insane, because of the magnitude of your guilt and hostility.

As he was making his defense this way, Festus exclaimed in a loud voice,“ You’re out of your mind, Paul! Too much study is driving you mad!”

When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said,“ He’s out of His mind.”

“ If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,and that sign or wonder he has promised you comes about, but he says,‘ Let us follow other gods,’ which you have not known,‘ and let us worship them,’do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul.You must follow the Lord your God and fear Him. You must keep His commands and listen to His voice; you must worship Him and remain faithful to Him.That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery, to turn you from the way the Lord your God has commanded you to walk. You must purge the evil from you.

Receiving such an order, he put them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks.

So now, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who has been acting like a prophet among you?

If a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him: You cannot remain alive because you have spoken falsely in the name of Yahweh. When he prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through.On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive.He will say: I am not a prophet; I work the land, for a man purchased me as a servant since my youth.If someone asks him: What are these wounds on your chest?— then he will answer: I received the wounds in the house of my friends.

Now as they were speaking to the people, the priests, the commander of the temple police, and the Sadducees confronted them,

When He entered the temple complex, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to Him as He was teaching and said,“ By what authority are You doing these things? Who gave You this authority?”

so I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall and escaped his hands.

So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the cistern of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the guard’s courtyard, lowering Jeremiah with ropes. There was no water in the cistern, only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

Are You greater than our father Abraham who died? Even the prophets died. Who do You pretend to be?”

Jeremiah remained in the guard’s courtyard until the day Jerusalem was captured, and he was there when it happened.

“ We aren’t stoning You for a good work,” the Jews answered,“ but for blasphemy, because You— being a man— make Yourself God.”

In all the synagogues I often tried to make them blaspheme by punishing them. I even pursued them to foreign cities since I was greatly enraged at them.

Then Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of hundreds in charge of the army,“ Take her out between the ranks, and put to death by the sword anyone who follows her,” for the priest had said,“ She is not to be put to death in the Lord’s temple.”

As the commander of the temple police and the chief priests heard these things, they were baffled about them, as to what could come of this.

So all the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They broke its altars and images into pieces, and they killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, at the altars. Then Jehoiada the priest appointed guards for the Lord’s temple.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the Devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will have affliction for 10 days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

and say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this guy in prison and feed him only bread and water until I come back safely.’”

Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison because of his anger over this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at that time.

For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we have a sound mind, it is for you.For Christ’s love compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all, then all died.And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised.

So they arrested the apostles and put them in the city jail.
