“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to the priest Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

西底家王派示利米雅的儿子犹甲和玛西雅的儿子西番雅祭司，去见耶利米先知，说：“求你为我们祈求耶和华—我们的上帝。”

西番雅祭司就把这信念给耶利米先知听。

护卫长拿住西莱雅大祭司、西番亚副祭司和门口的三个守卫，

亚述王听见有人谈论古实王特哈加说：“看哪，他出来要与你争战。”于是亚述王又差使者去见希西家，说：

他们也在我面前说多比雅的好话，又把我的话传给他。多比雅常寄信来，要叫我惧怕。

耶和华的话临到耶利米。那时，西底家王差派玛基雅的儿子巴施户珥和玛西雅的儿子西番雅祭司到他那里去，说：“请你为我们求问耶和华，因为巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒前来攻击我们；或者耶和华照他一切奇妙的作为待我们，使巴比伦王离开我们而去。”

而且，在那些日子，犹大的贵族屡次寄信给多比雅，多比雅也回信给他们。

西拿基立也写信毁谤耶和华—以色列的上帝，说：“列邦的神明既不能救自己的百姓脱离我的手，希西家的上帝也不能救他的百姓脱离我的手。”

亚哈有七十个儿子在撒玛利亚。耶户写信送到撒玛利亚，给耶斯列的领袖和长老，以及教养亚哈众儿子的人，说：“你们主人的众儿子既然在你们那里，你们又有战车、马匹、兵器、坚固城，现在你们接了这信，可以在你们主人的众儿子中选一个贤能正直的，使他坐他父亲的王位，你们也可以为你们主人的家作战。”他们却非常惧怕，说：“看哪，两个王在他面前尚且站立不住，我们怎能站立得住呢？”王宫总管、市长和长老，并教养众儿子的人，派人到耶户那里，说：“我们是你的仆人，凡你所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。我们不立谁作王，你看怎样好就怎样做吧。”耶户写第二封信给他们，说：“你们若归顺我，听从我的话，明日这时候，要带着你们主人众儿子的首级，来到耶斯列我这里。”那时王的儿子七十人都住在城中教养他们的那些尊贵人家里。信一到他们那里，他们就把王的七十个儿子杀了，将首级装在筐里，送到耶斯列，耶户那里。

护卫长拿住西莱雅大祭司、西番亚副祭司和门口的三个守卫，又从城中拿住一个管理士兵的官，并在城里所找到王面前的五个亲信，和召募当地百姓之将军的书记官，以及在城中找到的六十个当地百姓。尼布撒拉旦护卫长把这些人带到利比拉的巴比伦王那里。巴比伦王击杀他们，在哈马地的利比拉把他们处死。这样，犹大人就被掳去离开本地。

亚达薛西年间，比施兰、米特利达、他别和他们的同僚上书奏告波斯王亚达薛西。奏文是用亚兰文写的，以亚兰文呈上。利宏省长、伸帅书记也上奏亚达薛西王，控告耶路撒冷如下（那时，利宏省长、伸帅书记和他们其余的同僚，法官、官员、军官、波斯官员、亚基卫人、巴比伦人，和书珊迦人，就是以拦人，以及被亚斯那巴大人迁移、安置在撒玛利亚城和大河西边一带地方其余的人。现在，这是他们上奏亚达薛西王奏文的抄本）：“河西的臣仆上奏亚达薛西王，现在请王知道，从王那里上到我们这里的犹太人，已经抵达耶路撒冷。他们正在重建这反叛恶劣的城，已经完成了城墙，正要修复根基。如今请王知道，这城若再建造，城墙完工，他们就不再进贡、纳粮、缴税，王的国库必受亏损。如今，我们吃的盐既然全是宫廷的盐，就不忍见王吃亏，因此奏告于王，请王考察先王史籍，必会在史籍上查知这城是反叛的城，对列王和各省有害；自古以来，城中常有悖逆的事，因此这城曾被拆毁。我们谨奏王知，这城若再建造，城墙完工，河西之地王就无份了。”

于是王后以亚哈的名义写信，盖上王的印，把信送给那些与拿伯同城居住的长老和贵族。她在信上写着说：“你们当宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在百姓的高位上，又叫两个无赖坐在拿伯对面，作证告他说：‘你诅咒了上帝和王。’然后把他拉出去用石头打死。”那些与拿伯同城居住的长老和贵族，照耶洗别送给他们的信去做。正如她送的信上所写，他们宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在百姓的高位上。有两个无赖来，坐在拿伯对面。无赖当着百姓作证告他说：“拿伯诅咒上帝和王了！”众人就把他拉到城外，用石头打他，他就死了。

要求发信给大马士革的各会堂，若是找着信奉这道的人，无论男女，都准他捆绑带到耶路撒冷。

希西家从使者手里接过书信，读完了，就上耶和华的殿，在耶和华面前展开书信。
