“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,‘ You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem. You also sent them to Zephaniah the priest. He is the son of Maaseiah. And you sent them to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: You in your own name have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to the priest Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

that the LORD God of Israel who rules over all has a message for him. Tell him,‘ On your own initiative you sent a letter to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah and to all the other priests and to all the people in Jerusalem. In your letter you said to Zephaniah,

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

西底家王打发示利米雅的儿子犹甲和祭司玛西雅的儿子西番雅去见先知耶利米，说：“求你为我们祷告耶和华我们的神。”

祭司西番雅就把这信念给先知耶利米听。

护卫长拿住大祭司西莱雅、副祭司西番亚，和三个把门的，

亚述王听见人论古实王特哈加说：“他出来要与你争战。”于是亚述王又打发使者去见希西家，吩咐他们说：

他们常在我面前说多比雅的善行，也将我的话传与他。多比雅又常寄信来，要叫我惧怕。

耶和华的话临到耶利米。那时，西底家王打发玛基雅的儿子巴施户珥和玛西雅的儿子祭司西番雅去见耶利米，说：“请你为我们求问耶和华；因为巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒来攻击我们，或者耶和华照他一切奇妙的作为待我们，使巴比伦王离开我们上去。”

在那些日子，犹大的贵胄屡次寄信与多比雅，多比雅也来信与他们。

西拿基立也写信毁谤耶和华以色列的神说：“列邦的神既不能救他的民脱离我手，希西家的神也不能救他的民脱离我手了。”

亚哈有七十个儿子在撒玛利亚。耶户写信送到撒玛利亚，通知耶斯列的首领，就是长老和教养亚哈众子的人，说：“你们那里既有你们主人的众子和车马、器械、坚固城，接了这信，就可以在你们主人的众子中选择一个贤能合宜的，使他坐他父亲的位，你们也可以为你们主人的家争战。”他们却甚惧怕，彼此说：“二王在他面前尚且站立不住，我们怎能站得住呢？”家宰、邑宰，和长老，并教养众子的人，打发人去见耶户，说：“我们是你的仆人，凡你所吩咐我们的都必遵行，我们不立谁作王，你看怎样好就怎样行。”耶户又给他们写信说：“你们若归顺我，听从我的话，明日这时候，要将你们主人众子的首级带到耶斯列来见我。”那时王的儿子七十人都住在教养他们那城中的尊贵人家里。信一到，他们就把王的七十个儿子杀了，将首级装在筐里，送到在耶斯列的耶户那里。

护卫长拿住大祭司西莱雅、副祭司西番亚，和三个把门的，又从城中拿住一个管理兵丁的官，并在城里所遇常见王面的五个人和检点国民军长的书记，以及城里遇见的国民六十个人。护卫长尼布撒拉旦将这些人带到在利比拉的巴比伦王那里。巴比伦王就把他们击杀在哈马地的利比拉。这样，犹大人被掳去离开本地。

亚达薛西年间，比施兰、米特利达、他别，和他们的同党上本奏告波斯王亚达薛西。本章是用亚兰文字，亚兰方言。省长利宏、书记伸帅要控告耶路撒冷人，也上本奏告亚达薛西王。省长利宏、书记伸帅，和同党的底拿人、亚法萨提迦人、他毗拉人、亚法撒人、亚基卫人、巴比伦人、书珊迦人、底亥人、以拦人，和尊大的亚斯那巴所迁移、安置在撒玛利亚城，并大河西一带地方的人等，上奏亚达薛西王说：“河西的臣民云云：王该知道，从王那里上到我们这里的犹大人，已经到耶路撒冷重建这反叛恶劣的城，筑立根基，建造城墙。如今王该知道，他们若建造这城，城墙完毕就不再与王进贡，交课，纳税，终久王必受亏损。我们既食御盐，不忍见王吃亏，因此奏告于王。请王考察先王的实录，必在其上查知这城是反叛的城，与列王和各省有害；自古以来，其中常有悖逆的事，因此这城曾被拆毁。我们谨奏王知，这城若再建造，城墙完毕，河西之地王就无份了。”

于是托亚哈的名写信，用王的印印上，送给那些与拿伯同城居住的长老贵胄。信上写着说：“你们当宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在民间的高位上，又叫两个匪徒坐在拿伯对面，作见证告他说：‘你谤渎神和王了’；随后就把他拉出去用石头打死。”那些与拿伯同城居住的长老贵胄得了耶洗别的信，就照信而行，宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在民间的高位上。有两个匪徒来，坐在拿伯的对面，当着众民作见证告他说：“拿伯谤渎神和王了！”众人就把他拉到城外，用石头打死。

求文书给大马士革的各会堂，若是找着信奉这道的人，无论男女，都准他捆绑带到耶路撒冷。

希西家从使者手里接过书信来，看完了，就上耶和华的殿，将书信在耶和华面前展开。
