“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,‘ You sent letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem. You also sent them to Zephaniah the priest. He is the son of Maaseiah. And you sent them to all the other priests. You said to Zephaniah,

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: You wrote a letter on your own authority to Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, the priest, and you sent copies to the other priests and people in Jerusalem. You wrote to Zephaniah,

“ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: You in your own name have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are in Jerusalem, and to the priest Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests, saying,

Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

that the LORD God of Israel who rules over all has a message for him. Tell him,‘ On your own initiative you sent a letter to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah and to all the other priests and to all the people in Jerusalem. In your letter you said to Zephaniah,

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

西底迦王派示利米雅的儿子犹甲和玛西雅的儿子祭司西番雅来对耶利米先知说：“求你为我们向我们的上帝耶和华祷告。”

护卫长掳走祭司长西莱雅、副祭司长西番亚、三名殿门守卫，

亚述王听说古实王特哈加正前来攻打他，便再次派使者去对希西迦说：

他们常告诉我有关多比雅的善行，并把我的话告诉他。多比雅不断写信恐吓我。

西底迦王派玛基雅的儿子巴施户珥和玛西雅的儿子西番雅祭司来见耶利米的时候，耶利米听到了耶和华的话。当时，他们对耶利米说：“请你为我们求问耶和华，因为巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒来攻打我们，或许耶和华会像以往一样行神迹，使敌人撤军。”

在那些日子，多比雅和犹大贵族之间多有书信来往。

西拿基立还写信侮辱以色列的上帝耶和华说：“既然列邦的神明都不能从我手中救自己的人民，希西迦的上帝也不例外。”

亚哈在撒玛利亚有七十个子孙。耶户写信给那里的首领、长老以及亚哈子孙的监护人，说：“既然你们主人的子孙和你们在一起，你们也拥有车马、坚城和兵器，你们接到这封信后，就可以从你们主人的子孙中选立一个最好的继承王位，为你们主人家而战。”他们都十分害怕，彼此商议说：“两位王都不能抵挡他，我们怎能抵挡呢？”宫廷总管、总督、长老和众监护人便派人送信给耶户，说：“我们是你的仆人，你怎样吩咐，我们就怎样做。我们不会立任何人为王，你认为怎样好，就怎样办吧。”耶户又写了一封信，说：“如果你们归顺我，愿意听从我，明天这个时候，带着你们主人子孙的首级来耶斯列见我。”当时亚哈的七十个子孙都养在城中显贵的府中。这些显贵们接到信后，便杀了亚哈的七十个子孙，把他们的首级放在篮子里，送到耶斯列的耶户那里。

护卫长尼布撒拉旦掳走祭司长西莱雅、副祭司长西番亚和三名殿门守卫，还从城中拿住一名统管士兵的将领、王的五个亲信、一名负责招兵的书记和六十名平民。护卫长尼布撒拉旦把他们带到利比拉去见巴比伦王，巴比伦王在那里处死了他们。犹大人就这样被掳去，离开了家园。

波斯王亚达薛西统治年间，比施兰、米特利达、他别及其同党上奏亚达薛西。奏章是用亚兰文写的，经过翻译后呈上。利宏省长和伸帅书记也写了奏本给亚达薛西王，控告耶路撒冷人，内容如下：“利宏省长、伸帅书记和我们的同僚底拿人、亚法萨提迦人、他毗拉人、亚法撒人、亚基卫人、巴比伦人、书珊迦人、底亥人、以拦人，以及伟大尊贵的亚斯那巴迁来并安置在撒玛利亚各城与幼发拉底河西一带的人民，上奏亚达薛西王，“‘幼发拉底河西的臣民奏告亚达薛西王，王该知道，从王那里到我们这里来的犹太人已经去了耶路撒冷，如今正在重建这座叛逆、罪恶之城，正在重建地基，修筑城墙。王该知道，如果这城建好，城墙完工，他们将不再进贡、交赋、纳税，王的税收必受亏损。我们既食王禄，就不能坐视王遭受损失，因此上奏于王。请王查看先王的记录，必从中获悉这城是叛逆之城，危害列王和各省。自古以来，城中叛乱不断，因此才被毁灭。我们愿王知道，这城一旦建好，城墙完工，幼发拉底河西之地就不再为王所有了。’”

于是，耶洗别以亚哈王的名义写信，并盖上王印，送给跟拿伯同居一城的长老和贵族。信上说：“你们要宣告禁食，让拿伯在百姓中坐首位，叫两个无赖坐在他对面控告他咒诅上帝和君王，然后把他拉出去用石头打死。”与拿伯同居一城的长老和贵族接到来信，便依照信里的指示行事。他们宣告禁食，让拿伯在百姓中坐首位，又叫两名无赖当众作证指控拿伯咒诅上帝和君王。然后众人把拿伯拖出城外，用石头打死了他。

要取得授权书到大马士革的各会堂搜捕信耶稣的人，无论男女，都要把他们押回耶路撒冷。

希西迦从使者手中接过信，读完后走进耶和华的殿，在耶和华面前展开信，
