You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say,“ You mountains of Israel, hear Yahweh’s word.The Lord Yahweh says:‘ Because the enemy has said against you,“ Aha!” and,“ The ancient high places are ours in possession!”’therefore prophesy, and say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;”therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh: The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which have become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are all around;therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.”’Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and tell the mountains, the hills, the watercourses and the valleys,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because you have borne the shame of the nations.”Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ I have sworn,‘ Surely the nations that are around you will bear their shame.’“‘“ But you, mountains of Israel, you shall shoot out your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.For, behold, I am for you, and I will come to you, and you will be tilled and sown.I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, even all of it. The cities will be inhabited, and the waste places will be built.I will multiply man and animal on you. They will increase and be fruitful. I will cause you to be inhabited as you were before, and you will do better than at your beginnings. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will never again bereave them of their children.”“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Because they say to you,‘ You are a devourer of men, and have been a bereaver of your nation;’therefore you shall devour men no more, and not bereave your nation any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ I won’t let you hear the shame of the nations any more. You won’t bear the reproach of the peoples any more, and you won’t cause your nation to stumble any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and by their deeds. Their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.Therefore I poured out my wrath on them for the blood which they had poured out on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols.I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. I judged them according to their way and according to their deeds.When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them,‘ These are Yahweh’s people, and have left his land.’But I had respect for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.“ Therefore tell the house of Israel,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ I don’t do this for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ when I am proven holy in you before their eyes.“‘“ For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain, and will multiply it, and lay no famine on you.I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field, that you may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.“‘“ Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.I don’t do this for your sake,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ Let it be known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.”“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited and the waste places will be built.The land that was desolate will be tilled instead of being a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.They will say,‘ This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden. The waste, desolate, and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.’Then the nations that are left around you will know that I, Yahweh, have built the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate. I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and I will do it.”“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ For this, moreover, I will be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so the waste cities will be filled with flocks of men. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

Yahweh of Armies says:“ The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together. All who took them captive hold them fast. They refuse to let them go.Their Redeemer is strong: Yahweh of Armies is his name. He will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

“ But don’t you be afraid, Jacob my servant. Don’t be dismayed, Israel; for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob will return, and will be quiet and at ease. No one will make him afraid.Don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant,” says Yahweh;“ for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.”

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, along with the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who travails with child together. They will return as a great company.They will come with weeping. I will lead them with petitions. I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they won’t stumble; for I am a father to Israel. Ephraim is my firstborn.“ Hear Yahweh’s word, you nations, and declare it in the distant islands. Say,‘ He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.’For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.They will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of Yahweh, to the grain, to the new wine, to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd. Their soul will be as a watered garden. They will not sorrow any more at all.Then the virgin will rejoice in the dance; the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people will be satisfied with my goodness,” says Yahweh.

At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says Yahweh.

I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against me. I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against me and by which they have transgressed against me.This city will be to me for a name of joy, for praise, and for glory, before all the nations of the earth, which will hear all the good that I do to them, and will fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I provide to it.’”Yahweh says:“ Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say,‘ It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say,‘ Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever;’ who bring thanksgiving into Yahweh’s house. For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed as at the first,” says Yahweh.Yahweh of Armies says:“ Yet again there will be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says Yahweh.“ Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.“ In those days and at that time, I will cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David. He will execute justice and righteousness in the land.In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: Yahweh our righteousness.”For Yahweh says:“ David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.The Levitical priests won’t lack a man before me to offer burnt offerings, to burn meal offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.”Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,“ Yahweh says:‘ If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their time;then may my covenant also be broken with David my servant, that he won’t have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.As the army of the sky can’t be counted, and the sand of the sea can’t be measured; so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant and the Levites who minister to me.’”Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,“ Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying,‘ Has Yahweh cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”Yahweh says:“ If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;then I will also cast away the offspring of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his offspring to be rulers over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to be reversed and will have mercy on them.”

“ Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that it will no more be said,‘ As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;’but,‘ As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them.’ I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.

But they don’t know the thoughts of Yahweh, neither do they understand his counsel; for he has gathered them like the sheaves to the threshing floor.

“ Therefore say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come.”’“ Therefore say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ I will gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”“‘ They will come there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there.I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and tell them, even the shepherds,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the sheep?You eat the fat. You clothe yourself with the wool. You kill the fatlings, but you don’t feed the sheep.You haven’t strengthened the diseased. You haven’t healed that which was sick. You haven’t bound up that which was broken. You haven’t brought back that which was driven away. You haven’t sought that which was lost, but you have ruled over them with force and with rigor.They were scattered, because there was no shepherd. They became food to all the animals of the field, and were scattered.My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill. Yes, my sheep were scattered on all the surface of the earth. There was no one who searched or sought.”“‘ Therefore, you shepherds, hear Yahweh’s word:“ As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ surely because my sheep became a prey, and my sheep became food to all the animals of the field, because there was no shepherd. My shepherds didn’t search for my sheep, but the shepherds fed themselves, and didn’t feed my sheep.”Therefore, you shepherds, hear Yahweh’s word:The Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I am against the shepherds. I will require my sheep at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the sheep. The shepherds won’t feed themselves any more. I will deliver my sheep from their mouth, that they may not be food for them.”“‘ For the Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I myself, even I, will search for my sheep, and will seek them out.As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered abroad, so I will seek out my sheep. I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited places of the country.I will feed them with good pasture; and their fold will be on the mountains of the height of Israel. There they will lie down in a good fold. They will feed on fat pasture on the mountains of Israel.I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will cause them to lie down,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them in justice.”’“ As for you, O my flock, the Lord Yahweh says:‘ Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, the rams and the male goats.Does it seem a small thing to you to have fed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture? And to have drunk of the clear waters, but must you foul the residue with your feet?As for my sheep, they eat that which you have trodden with your feet, and they drink that which you have fouled with your feet.’“ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says to them:‘ Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.Because you thrust with side and with shoulder, and push all the diseased with your horns, until you have scattered them abroad;therefore I will save my flock, and they will no more be a prey. I will judge between sheep and sheep.I will set up one shepherd over them, and he will feed them, even my servant David. He will feed them, and he will be their shepherd.I, Yahweh, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.“‘ I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil animals to cease out of the land. They will dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.I will make them and the places around my hill a blessing. I will cause the shower to come down in its season. There will be showers of blessing.The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them.They will no more be a prey to the nations, neither will the animals of the earth devour them; but they will dwell securely, and no one will make them afraid.I will raise up to them a plantation for renown, and they will no more be consumed with famine in the land, and not bear the shame of the nations any more.They will know that I, Yahweh, their God am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, says the Lord Yahweh.You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”

I will bring Israel again to his pasture, and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan. His soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.In those days, and in that time,” says Yahweh,“ the iniquity of Israel will be sought for, and there will be none; also the sins of Judah, and they won’t be found; for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant.

For what great nation is there that has a god so near to them as Yahweh our God is whenever we call on him?

that then Yahweh your God will release you from captivity, have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has scattered you.

I will bring my people Israel back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat their fruit.

“ I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they will be fruitful and multiply.I will set up shepherds over them, who will feed them. They will no longer be afraid or dismayed, neither will any be lacking,” says Yahweh.“ Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he will reign as king and deal wisely, and will execute justice and righteousness in the land.In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: Yahweh our righteousness.“ Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,“ that they will no more say,‘ As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;’but,‘ As Yahweh lives, who brought up and who led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ Then they will dwell in their own land.”

I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn’t say to the offspring of Jacob,‘ Seek me in vain.’ I, Yahweh, speak righteousness. I declare things that are right.

“ In those days, and in that time,” says Yahweh,“ the children of Israel will come, they and the children of Judah together; they will go on their way weeping, and will seek Yahweh their God.They will inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying,‘ Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.’

“ Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place. I will cause them to dwell safely.Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and the good of their children after them.I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good. I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.”For Yahweh says:“ Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say,‘ It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’Men will buy fields for money, sign the deeds, seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captivity to be reversed,” says Yahweh.

“ Yahweh, the God of Israel says:‘ Like these good figs, so I will regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land. I will build them, and not pull them down. I will plant them, and not pluck them up.I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.

Therefore don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh. Don’t be dismayed, Israel. For, behold, I will save you from afar, and save your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob will return, and will be quiet and at ease. No one will make him afraid.

‘ Yahweh has produced our righteousness: come, and let’s declare in Zion the work of Yahweh our God.’

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with cornets.All Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them. Then Yahweh gave them rest all around.

When Yahweh brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.

Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near.

Isaiah is very bold and says,“ I was found by those who didn’t seek me. I was revealed to those who didn’t ask for me.”
