This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：你曾用自己的名送信給耶路撒冷的眾百姓和瑪西雅的兒子西番雅祭司，並眾祭司，說：『耶和華已經立你西番雅為祭司，代替耶何耶大祭司，使耶和華的殿中有總管，好把所有狂妄自稱先知的人用枷枷住，用鎖鎖住。現在亞拿突人耶利米向你們自稱先知，你為甚麼不責備他呢？他送信給我們在巴比倫的人說：被擄的事必長久，你們要建造房屋，住在其中；要開墾田園，吃園中所出產的。』」西番雅祭司就把這信念給耶利米先知聽。

他們帶去的信說：「使徒和作長老的弟兄們向安提阿、敘利亞、基利家外邦眾弟兄問安。

弟兄們，我簡略地寫信給你們，希望你們聽我勸勉的話。

「你要寫信給以弗所教會的使者，說：『那右手拿着七顆星，在七個金燈臺中間行走的這樣說：我知道你的行為、勞碌、忍耐，也知道你不容忍惡人。你也曾察驗那自稱為使徒卻不是使徒的，看出他們是假的。你能忍耐，曾為我的名勞苦而不困倦。

希西家派人去見以色列和猶大眾人，又寫信給以法蓮和瑪拿西人，要他們到耶路撒冷耶和華的殿，向耶和華－以色列的上帝守逾越節，因為王和眾領袖，以及耶路撒冷全會眾已經商議，要在二月份守逾越節。那時他們不能守，因為分別為聖的祭司不夠，百姓也還沒有聚集在耶路撒冷。這事在王與全會眾眼中都看為合宜。於是他們下令，通告全以色列，從別是巴直到但，吩咐百姓都來，在耶路撒冷向耶和華－以色列的上帝守逾越節，因為他們已經許久沒有照所寫的守這節了。信差遵着王命，拿着王和眾領袖所發的信，送達全以色列和猶大，說：「以色列人哪，當轉向耶和華－亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝，好叫他轉向你們這些脫離亞述諸王之手的餘民。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒將約雅敬的兒子猶大王耶哥尼雅和猶大的領袖，並工匠、鐵匠從耶路撒冷擄去，帶到巴比倫。這事以後，耶和華指給我看，看哪，有兩筐無花果放在耶和華殿前。一筐是極好的無花果，像是初熟的；一筐是極壞的無花果，壞得不能吃。耶和華對我說：「耶利米，你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見無花果，好的極好，壞的極壞，壞得不能吃。」於是耶和華的話臨到我，說：「耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：『被擄去的猶大人，就是我所打發離開這地到迦勒底人之地去的，我必看顧他們如這好的無花果，使他們得福樂。我要眷顧他們，使他們得福樂，領他們歸回這地。我也要建立他們，必不拆毀；栽植他們，必不拔出。我要賜給他們認識我的心，認識我是耶和華。他們要作我的子民，我要作他們的上帝，他們要一心歸向我。』」

即使我先前那封信使你們憂愁，後來我曾懊悔，如今卻不懊悔；因為我知道，那封信使你們憂愁，不過是暫時的。

我又要將約雅敬的兒子猶大王耶哥尼雅和被擄到巴比倫所有的猶大人帶回此地，因為我要折斷巴比倫王的軛。這是耶和華說的。」

你們看我親手寫給你們的字是何等的大！
