This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、爾曾恃己名、寄書達於耶路撒冷居民、與祭司瑪西雅子西番亞、及眾祭司曰、西番亞、主立爾為祭司、以代祭司耶何耶大、督理主殿、使爾執諸狂妄自稱為先知者、囚之於獄、加以桎梏、今亞拿突人耶利米、自稱為先知於爾中、自稱為先知於爾中或作向爾曹述預言何弗斥之、蓋彼曾寄書至巴比倫告我儕云、爾於巴比倫時日必久、當建屋以居、栽園而食其果、祭司西番亞遂讀此書於先知耶利米前、

其書云、使徒、長老、兄弟、問安提約、敘利亞、基利嘉、異邦人中諸兄弟安、

兄弟乎、我畧書此達爾、求爾聽我勸勉、

爾當書達以弗所教會使者曰、右手執七星、行於七金燈臺間者、如是云、我知爾之作為、爾之勤勞、爾之忍耐、亦知爾不容惡類、自稱為使徒、實非使徒者、爾已試之、知其虛偽、爾忍受患難、為我之名、勞而不倦、

希西家遣人召以色列及猶大人眾、又致書以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、欲其至耶路撒冷、詣主之殿、於主以色列之天主前守逾越節、王與諸牧伯及耶路撒冷會眾議、於二月守逾越節、因自潔之祭司尚不敷用、民亦未咸集於耶路撒冷、故不能守之於定時、王與會眾以為善、遂定命普告以色列、自別是巴至但、使至耶路撒冷、於主以色列之天主前守逾越節、蓋至此民循所錄之例、守逾越節者不甚多也、或作因民久未遵所綠之例守逾越節趨承者遵王命、將王與牧伯之書、傳遍以色列及猶大、書曰、以色列人、爾當歸主亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之天主、若是、則主必復眷顧復眷顧原文作歸爾曹所餘、脫於亞述列王之手者、

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、擄猶大王約雅敬子耶哥尼亞、及猶大諸牧伯、與諸木工、鐵工、自耶路撒冷至巴比倫、厥後主以二筐示我、中盛無花果、置於殿前、一筐盛以至佳之無花果、似初熟之無花果、一筐盛以至劣之無花果、因劣不可食、主問我曰、耶利米、爾觀何物、曰、無花果、其佳者甚佳、其劣者甚劣、因劣不可食、主有言諭我曰、主以色列之天主如是云、被擄之猶大人、即我自斯地遷至迦勒底者、我必視若此佳無花果、施之以恩、我目必顧之、施之以恩、使返斯地、我將建之不復毀、植之不復拔、我必賦以識我之心、俾知我乃主、一心歸誠於我、彼為我之民、我為其天主、
