Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

末底改記錄這事，寫信與亞哈隨魯王各省遠近所有的猶大人，

萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神如此說：你曾用自己的名寄信給耶路撒冷的眾民和祭司瑪西雅的兒子西番雅，並眾祭司，說：『耶和華已經立你西番雅為祭司，代替祭司耶何耶大，使耶和華殿中有官長，好將一切狂妄自稱為先知的人用枷枷住，用鎖鎖住。現在亞拿突人耶利米向你們自稱為先知，你們為何沒有責備他呢？因為他寄信給我們在巴比倫的人說：被擄的事必長久。你們要蓋造房屋，住在其中；栽種田園，吃其中所產的。』」祭司西番雅就把這信念給先知耶利米聽。

於是寫信交付他們，內中說：「使徒和作長老的弟兄們問安提阿、敘利亞、基利家外邦眾弟兄的安。

弟兄們，我略略寫信給你們，望你們聽我勸勉的話。

「你要寫信給以弗所教會的使者，說：『那右手拿着七星、在七個金燈臺中間行走的，說：我知道你的行為、勞碌、忍耐，也知道你不能容忍惡人。你也曾試驗那自稱為使徒卻不是使徒的，看出他們是假的來。你也能忍耐，曾為我的名勞苦，並不乏倦。

希西家差遣人去見以色列和猶大眾人，又寫信給以法蓮和瑪拿西人，叫他們到耶路撒冷耶和華的殿，向耶和華－以色列的神守逾越節；因為王和眾首領，並耶路撒冷全會眾已經商議，要在二月內守逾越節。正月間他們不能守；因為自潔的祭司尚不敷用，百姓也沒有聚集在耶路撒冷；王與全會眾都以這事為善。於是定了命令，傳遍以色列，從別是巴直到但，使他們都來，在耶路撒冷向耶和華－以色列的神守逾越節；因為照所寫的例，守這節的不多了。驛卒就把王和眾首領的信，遵着王命傳遍以色列和猶大。信內說：「以色列人哪，你們當轉向耶和華－亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的神，好叫他轉向你們這脫離亞述王手的餘民。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒將猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和猶大的首領，並工匠、鐵匠從耶路撒冷擄去，帶到巴比倫。這事以後，耶和華指給我看，有兩筐無花果放在耶和華的殿前。一筐是極好的無花果，好像是初熟的；一筐是極壞的無花果，壞得不可吃。於是耶和華問我說：「耶利米你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見無花果，好的極好，壞的極壞，壞得不可吃。」耶和華的話臨到我說：「耶和華－以色列的神如此說：被擄去的猶大人，就是我打發離開這地到迦勒底人之地去的，我必看顧他們如這好無花果，使他們得好處。我要眷顧他們，使他們得好處，領他們歸回這地。我也要建立他們，必不拆毀；栽植他們，並不拔出。我要賜他們認識我的心，知道我是耶和華。他們要作我的子民，我要作他們的神，因為他們要一心歸向我。」

我先前寫信叫你們憂愁，我後來雖然懊悔，如今卻不懊悔；因我知道，那信叫你們憂愁不過是暫時的。

我又要將猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和被擄到巴比倫去的一切猶大人帶回此地，因為我要折斷巴比倫王的軛。這是耶和華說的。」
