This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Now these[ are] the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

The prophet Jeremiah sent a letter to the exiles Nebuchadnezzar had carried off from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was addressed to the elders who were left among the exiles, to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the other people who were exiled in Babylon.

Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

末底改把这些事记录下来，并且送文书给亚哈随鲁各省远近所有的犹大人，

‘万军之耶和华以色列的神这样说：你曾用自己的名寄信给在耶路撒冷的众民、玛西雅祭司的儿子西番雅，和众祭司，说：耶和华已经立了你西番雅为祭司，代替耶何耶大，作耶和华殿中的总管，你就应把所有妄自说预言的人，都带上脚镣枷锁。现在，亚拿突人耶利米向你们说预言，你为什么不斥责他呢？因为他寄信给我们在巴比伦的人说：被掳的时期必会长久，所以你们要建造房屋，定居下来，也要栽植园子，吃园中的果子。’”（西番雅祭司却把这封信念给耶利米先知听。）

于是写信给他们带去，信上说：“使徒和作长老的弟兄们，向安提阿、叙利亚、基利家的外族众弟兄问安。

弟兄们，我劝你们耐心接受我这劝勉的话，因为我只是简略地写给你们。

“你要写信给在以弗所教会的使者，说：‘那右手拿着七星，在七个金灯台中间行走的，这样说：我知道你的行为、你的劳苦、你的忍耐，也知道你不能容忍恶人。你也曾经试验那些自称是使徒，而其实不是使徒的人，看出他们是假的。你有忍耐，曾为我的名的缘故忍受一切，并不困倦。

希西家派人走遍以色列和犹大，又写信给以法莲人和玛拿西人，叫他们到耶路撒冷耶和华的殿来，守逾越节记念耶和华以色列的神。因为王和众领袖，以及耶路撒冷的全体会众曾经商议，要在二月守逾越节。（但他们不能如期守逾越节，因为自洁的祭司不够，人民也没有齐集在耶路撒冷。）王和全体会众都认为这计划很好，于是下了命令，通告全以色列，从别是巴直到但，叫人民来耶路撒冷守逾越节记念耶和华以色列的神，因为照着所记的定例举行这节的人不多。信差就带着王和众领袖发出的书信，走遍全以色列和犹大，照着王的吩咐，宣告说：“以色列人哪，你们应当转向耶和华，亚伯拉罕、以撒和以色列的神，使他也转向你们这些在亚述王手中逃脱的余民。

巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒把犹大王约雅敬的儿子耶哥尼雅，和犹大的众领袖、工匠与铁匠从耶路撒冷掳到巴比伦去。这事以后，耶和华使我看见在耶和华的殿前面摆着两筐无花果。一筐是极好的无花果，像初熟的无花果；另一筐是极坏的无花果，坏到不能吃。于是耶和华问我：“耶利米啊，你看见什么？”我回答：“我看见无花果。那些好的无花果极好，坏的却极坏，坏到不能吃。”耶和华的话临到我，说：“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘被掳去的犹大人，就是我打发离开这地方到迦勒底人之地去的，我必看他们如同这些好的无花果一样，眷顾他们。我必关注他们，眷顾他们，领他们归回这地。我必建立他们，必不拆毁；我必栽植他们，必不拔除。我必赐给他们一颗认识我的心，知道我就是耶和华；他们要作我的子民，我要亲自作他们的神，因为他们必一心归向我。’”

虽然我在那封信上使你们忧伤，但我现在并不后悔；其实我曾经有点后悔，因为知道那封信使你们忧伤，虽然只是暂时的。

我也必把犹大王约雅敬的儿子耶哥尼雅，和所有被掳到巴比伦去的犹大人，都带回这地方，因为我必折断巴比伦王的轭。’这是耶和华的宣告。”
