“ The LORD God of Israel who rules over all says,‘ I will break the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon.

“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:‘ I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,‘ I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:‘ I will remove the yoke of the king of Babylon from your necks.

“ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

“ Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says,‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

The LORD told me,“ Make a yoke out of leather straps and wooden crossbars and put it on your neck.Use it to send messages to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon. Send them through the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to King Zedekiah of Judah.Charge them to give their masters a message from me. Tell them,‘ The LORD God of Israel who rules over all says to give your masters this message.“ I made the earth and the people and animals on it by my mighty power and great strength, and I give it to whomever I see fit.I have at this time placed all these nations of yours under the power of my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made all the wild animals subject to him.All nations must serve him and his son and grandson until the time comes for his own nation to fall. Then many nations and great kings will in turn subjugate Babylon.But suppose a nation or a kingdom will not be subject to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Suppose it will not submit to the yoke of servitude to him. I, the LORD, affirm that I will punish that nation. I will use the king of Babylon to punish it with war, starvation, and disease until I have destroyed it.So do not listen to your prophets or to those who claim to predict the future by divination, by dreams, by consulting the dead, or by practicing magic. They keep telling you,‘ You do not need to be subject to the king of Babylon.’Do not listen to them, because their prophecies are lies. Listening to them will only cause you to be taken far away from your native land. I will drive you out of your country and you will die in exile.Things will go better for the nation that submits to the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon and is subject to him. I will leave that nation in its native land. Its people can continue to farm it and live in it. I, the LORD, affirm it!”’”I told King Zedekiah of Judah the same thing. I said,“ Submit to the yoke of servitude to the king of Babylon. Be subject to him and his people. Then you will continue to live.

Her leaders take bribes when they decide legal cases, her priests proclaim rulings for profit, and her prophets read omens for pay. Yet they claim to trust the LORD and say,“ The LORD is among us. Disaster will not overtake us!”

You have not gone up in the breaks in the wall, nor repaired a wall for the house of Israel that it would stand strong in the battle on the day of the LORD.They see delusion and their omens are a lie. They say,“ the LORD declares,” though the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their word to be confirmed.Have you not seen a false vision and announced a lying omen when you say,“ the LORD declares,” although I myself never spoke?“‘ Therefore, this is what the sovereign LORD says: Because you have spoken false words and forecast delusion, look, I am against you, declares the sovereign LORD.My hand will be against the prophets who see delusion and announce lying omens. They will not be included in the council of my people, nor be written in the registry of the house of Israel, nor enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the sovereign LORD.“‘ This is because they have led my people astray saying,“ All is well,” when things are not well. When anyone builds a wall without mortar, they coat it with whitewash.Tell the ones who coat it with whitewash that it will fall. When there is a deluge of rain, hailstones will fall and a violent wind will break out.When the wall has collapsed, people will ask you,“ Where is the whitewash you coated it with?”“‘ Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says: In my rage I will make a violent wind break out. In my anger there will be a deluge of rain and hailstones in destructive fury.I will break down the wall you coated with whitewash and knock it to the ground so that its foundation is exposed. When it falls you will be destroyed beneath it, and you will know that I am the LORD.I will vent my rage against the wall, and against those who coated it with whitewash. Then I will say to you,“ The wall is no more and those who whitewashed it are no more–those prophets of Israel who would prophesy about Jerusalem and would see visions of peace for it, when there was no peace,” declares the sovereign LORD.’
