I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said,“ Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.

I gave the same message to Zedekiah, the king of Judah. I said,“ Put your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon. Obey him. Serve his people. Then you will live.

To Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke in like manner:“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people and live.

Then I repeated this same message to King Zedekiah of Judah.“ If you want to live, submit to the yoke of the king of Babylon and his people.

I spoke to King Zedekiah of Judah in the same way:“ Put your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, serve him and his people, and live!

I spoke words like all these to Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,“ Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and live!

當年，就是猶大王西底家登基第四年五月，押朔的兒子基遍人哈拿尼雅先知，在耶和華的殿中當着祭司和眾百姓的面對我說：

耶利米對西底家說：「耶和華－萬軍之上帝、以色列的上帝如此說：你若歸順巴比倫王的官長，你的命就必存活，這城也不致被火焚燒，你和你的全家都必存活。

「無論哪一邦、哪一國，不肯服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，不把頸項放在他的軛下，我必用刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫懲罰那邦，直到我藉巴比倫王的手毀滅他們。這是耶和華說的。

惟聽從我的，必安然居住，得享寧靜，不怕災禍。」

「耶和華對我如此說：你要為自己做皮帶和木軛，套在你的頸項上，然後託那些來到耶路撒冷，到猶大王西底家那裏的使節，把皮帶和木軛送到以東王、摩押王、亞捫王、推羅王、西頓王那裏，

西底家登基的時候年二十一歲，在耶路撒冷作王十一年。他行耶和華－他上帝眼中看為惡的事，沒有謙卑聽從耶利米先知所傳達耶和華的話。尼布甲尼撒王曾叫他指着上帝起誓，他卻背叛，硬着頸項，內心頑固，不歸向耶和華－以色列的上帝。

耶和華的話臨到我，說：「你要對那悖逆之家說：你們不知道這些事是甚麼意思嗎？你要這樣說，看哪，巴比倫王曾到耶路撒冷，把其中的君王和官長帶到巴比倫去，又從以色列王室後裔中選取一人，與他立約，令他發誓，又擄走國中有勢力的人，使王國衰弱，不再強盛，只能靠守盟約方得生存。他卻背叛巴比倫王，差派使者前往埃及，要求埃及人給他馬匹和許多人。他豈能亨通呢？這樣做的人豈能逃脫呢？他背了約豈能逃脫呢？主耶和華說：我指着我的永生起誓，他定要死在巴比倫，就是巴比倫王所在之處；因為巴比倫王立他為王，他竟輕看向王所起的誓，背棄王與他所立的約。當敵人建土堆，築堡壘，要殲滅許多人時，法老雖有強大軍隊和大批人馬，在戰場上還是不能幫助他。他輕看誓言，背棄盟約，看哪，雖已投降，卻又做這一切的事，他必不能逃脫。所以主耶和華如此說：我指着我的永生起誓，他既輕看我的誓言，背棄我的約，我必使這罪歸到他頭上。我要把我的網撒在他身上，他就被我的羅網纏住。我要帶他到巴比倫，在那裏因他背叛我的罪懲罰他。所有逃跑的軍隊必倒在刀下；剩餘的也必分散四方。你們就知道說這話的是我－耶和華。」
