But when Jeremiah had finished his message, saying everything the Lord had told him to say, the priests and prophets and all the people at the Temple mobbed him.“ Kill him!” they shouted.

When he finished the address the LORD had commanded him to deliver to all the people, immediately the priests, the prophets, and all the people took hold of him, yelling,“ You must surely die!

是因為她的神言人的罪，她的祭司的罪孽，就是那些在城中流了義人之血的。他們眼瞎盲盲、在街上亂走，污染着血；以致素常不敢觸着的，如今竟用服裝去觸着了。

哪一個神言人、你們的祖宗沒有逼迫過？他們把豫先宣佈那義人之來臨的人殺了。如今你們、你們這些由天使之宣諭領受了律法、而不遵守的人，你們竟成了那義人的出賣者和兇手了！』

祭司音麥的兒子巴施戶珥、做永恆主之殿的總管，聽見耶利米對這些事傳了神言。巴施戶珥就擊打神言人耶利米，將他枷在便雅憫上門內的枷架上；這門是在永恆主的殿內。

因為我每逢講論時，總得哀呼；我喊叫說：『有強暴哦！要毁滅啦！』因為永恆主的話對於我已成了終日不斷的辱罵和譏刺了。我若說：『我不再去想起他，我不再奉他的名講論，』我心裏就像有火燒着，閉塞在我骨中；我含忍得不耐煩了，簡直不能自禁。我聽見了許多人的讒誹；四圍盡是恐怖！『告發他！我們要告發他！』我的一切盟友，那些等着瞧我顛沛的說：『或者他被誘騙，我們就能勝過他，而在他身上得報復。』然而永恆主與我同在，他是大能大力者、威武可畏者；因此逼迫我的都必絆跌，不能得勝。他們必極其慚愧，蒙受永不能忘的羞慚，因為他們行事不聰明。

園工卻拿住了他的奴僕，打了一個，殺了一個，扔石頭打死了一個。主人又差遣別的奴僕，比先前的多；園工還是這樣待他們。後來就差遣他的兒子去找他們，心裏說：「他們是會尊敬我兒子的。」園工看見了兒子，卻彼此說：「這是承繼產業的；來吧，我們殺他，佔有他的產業。」於是拿住了他，丟出葡萄園外去，殺了。

那時祭司長和民間的長老聚集在稱為該亞法的大祭司院子裏，一同計議，要用詭計抓住耶穌，殺他。

我責打你們的兒女、也是枉然；他們不接受懲治；你們自己的刀吞滅了你們的神言人，像殘害人的獅子。

會眾聽了，心如刀割，就起意要殺掉使徒。

祭司長和全議院直尋假見證告耶穌，好治死他；卻找不着，雖則有許多假證人上前來。後來有兩個人上前來，說：『這個人曾經說過：「我能拆毁上帝的殿堂，三日之間把它建造起來。」』大祭司就站起來，對耶穌說：『你甚麼都不回答；這些人作見證告你甚麼呢？』耶穌卻不作聲。大祭司對他說：『我指着永活的上帝誓囑你，告訴我們，你是上帝的兒子、上帝所膏立者不是。』耶穌對他說：『你說的是；然而我告訴你們，你們這就要看見人子坐在「權能」的右邊了，還要駕着天雲來臨呢。』祭司長就撕開衣裳說：『他說了僭妄的話了；我們還需要見證人麼？你看，如今你們聽見僭妄的話了；你們以為怎樣？』他們回答說：『他應該死。』

在這裏並且見有神言人和聖徒們的血、以及地上一切被屠殺之人的血。

『你若跟步行的人同跑，尚且覺得累，怎能跟馬賽跑呢？你在平安之地尚且要匍匐而逃，在約但河邊的叢林要怎樣行呢？因為連你的族弟兄和你父的家都以詭詐待你，連這些人都大聲追喊着你；他們雖向你說好話，你可不要信他們。』

他們就說：『來吧，我們來設計謀害耶利米；因為祭司有禮節規矩，智慧人有謀略，神言人有話語，都不能斷絕掉。來吧，我們用口舌攻擊他，他的甚麼話、我們都別理它。』

其餘的抓住了他的奴僕，凌辱了，殺了。

這你們便是控訴自己作證自己是殺害神言人者的子孫了。你們祖宗的惡貫你們去滿盈吧！蛇啊，毒蛇的種啊，你們怎能逃避地獄的定罪呢？故此我差遣神言人智慧人和經學士到你們這裏來；你看吧，有的你們要殺害，要釘十字架，有的你們要在你們的會堂裏鞭打，從這一個城追逼到那一個城；叫流在地上的義血都歸到你們身上，從義人亞伯的血起，直到巴拉加兒子撒迦利亞的血為止；他就是你們在殿堂和祭壇間所殺害的。

他們卻直戲笑上帝的使者，藐視上帝的話，直譏誚他的神言人，以致永恆主向他人民發烈怒、到無法救治。

我卻像柔順的羊羔，被牽到屠殺之地。我並不知道他們設計謀是要害死我；他們說：『我們來把樹連樹汁都滅掉，將他從活人之地剪除掉，使他的名不再被記念。』但萬軍之永恆主、按公義判斷的啊，試驗人心腸心思的啊，我卻要見你在他們身上加以報復；因為我已將我的案件向你稟明。因此永恆主論到那些尋索你性命的亞拿突人、就是那樣說：「你不要奉永恆主的名傳神言，免得你死在我們手中」的、是這麼說：——
