祭司音麦的儿子巴施户珥作耶和华殿的总管，听见耶利米预言这些事，他就打先知耶利米，用耶和华殿里便雅悯高门内的枷，将他枷在那里。

我每逢讲论的时候，就发出哀声，我喊叫说：有强暴和毁灭！因为耶和华的话终日成了我的凌辱、讥刺。我若说：我不再提耶和华，也不再奉他的名讲论，我便心里觉得似乎有烧着的火闭塞在我骨中，我就含忍不住，不能自禁。我听见了许多人的谗谤，四围都是惊吓；就是我知己的朋友也都窥探我，愿我跌倒，说：“告他吧，我们也要告他！或者他被引诱，我们就能胜他，在他身上报仇。”然而，耶和华与我同在，好像甚可怕的勇士。因此，逼迫我的必都绊跌，不能得胜；他们必大大蒙羞，就是受永不忘记的羞辱，因为他们行事没有智慧。

园户拿住仆人，打了一个，杀了一个，用石头打死一个。主人又打发别的仆人去，比先前更多；园户还是照样待他们。后来打发他的儿子到他们那里去，意思说：‘他们必尊敬我的儿子。’不料，园户看见他儿子，就彼此说：‘这是承受产业的。来吧，我们杀他，占他的产业！’他们就拿住他，推出葡萄园外，杀了。

那时，祭司长和民间的长老聚集在大祭司称为该亚法的院里。大家商议要用诡计拿住耶稣，杀他，

我责打你们的儿女是徒然的，他们不受惩治。你们自己的刀吞灭你们的先知，好像残害的狮子。

公会的人听见就极其恼怒，想要杀他们。

祭司长和全公会寻找假见证控告耶稣，要治死他。虽有好些人来作假见证，总得不着实据。末后有两个人前来，说：“这个人曾说：‘我能拆毁神的殿，三日内又建造起来。’”大祭司就站起来，对耶稣说：“你什么都不回答吗？这些人作见证告你的是什么呢？”耶稣却不言语。大祭司对他说：“我指着永生神叫你起誓告诉我们，你是神的儿子基督不是？”耶稣对他说：“你说的是。然而，我告诉你们，后来你们要看见人子坐在那权能者的右边，驾着天上的云降临。”大祭司就撕开衣服，说：“他说了僭妄的话，我们何必再用见证人呢？这僭妄的话，现在你们都听见了。你们的意见如何？”他们回答说：“他是该死的。”

先知和圣徒，并地上一切被杀之人的血，都在这城里看见了。

耶和华说：“你若与步行的人同跑，尚且觉累，怎能与马赛跑呢？你在平安之地，虽然安稳，在约旦河边的丛林要怎样行呢？因为连你弟兄和你父家都用奸诈待你。他们也在你后边大声喊叫，虽向你说好话，你也不要信他们。”

他们就说：“来吧！我们可以设计谋害耶利米；因为我们有祭司讲律法，智慧人设谋略，先知说预言，都不能断绝。来吧！我们可以用舌头击打他，不要理会他的一切话。”

其余的拿住仆人，凌辱他们，把他们杀了。

这就是你们自己证明是杀害先知者的子孙了。你们去充满你们祖宗的恶贯吧！你们这些蛇类、毒蛇之种啊，怎能逃脱地狱的刑罚呢？所以我差遣先知和智慧人并文士到你们这里来，有的你们要杀害，要钉十字架；有的你们要在会堂里鞭打，从这城追逼到那城，叫世上所流义人的血都归到你们身上，从义人亚伯的血起，直到你们在殿和坛中间所杀的巴拉加的儿子撒迦利亚的血为止。

他们却嘻笑神的使者，藐视他的言语，讥诮他的先知，以致耶和华的忿怒向他的百姓发作，无法可救。

我却像柔顺的羊羔被牵到宰杀之地；我并不知道他们设计谋害我，说：“我们把树连果子都灭了吧！将他从活人之地剪除，使他的名不再被纪念。”按公义判断、察验人肺腑心肠的万军之耶和华啊，我却要见你在他们身上报仇，因我将我的案件向你禀明了。所以，耶和华论到寻索你命的亚拿突人如此说：“他们说：‘你不要奉耶和华的名说预言，免得你死在我们手中。’”
