因為錫安先知的罪惡，和祭司的罪孽，就是他們在城中流了義人的血，所以，他們像瞎子在街上流蕩，他們被血玷污，沒有人可以觸摸他們的衣服。

有哪一個先知，你們的祖先不迫害呢？你們殺了那些預先宣告那義者要來的人，現在又把那義者出賣了，殺害了。

音麥的兒子巴施戶珥祭司，就是耶和華殿的總管，他聽見了耶利米預言這些事，就毆打耶利米先知，把他枷鎖在耶和華殿裡，朝向便雅憫的上門內。

因為我每次發言，都大聲呼叫；我呼喊，說：“有強暴和毀滅！”耶和華的話使我整天受人辱罵和譏諷。如果我說：“我不再提起他，也不再奉他的名說話”，他的話就像火在我心中焚燒，被困在我的骨裡；我不能再抑制，實在不能了。我聽見許多人耳語：“瑪歌珥．米撒畢！告發他，我們要告發他！”我所有的知己朋友都等著看我行差踏錯，他們說：“希望他會上當，我們就可以勝過他，向他報復。”但耶和華與我同在，像一個威武可畏的勇士，因此，逼迫我的都必跌倒，不能得勝。他們必大大蒙羞，因為他們失敗了；這永遠的恥辱是人不能忘記的。

佃戶卻抓住他的僕人，打傷一個，殺了一個，又用石頭打死一個。於是園主再派其他的僕人去，人數比前一次更多，但佃戶也是同樣對付他們。最後，他派了自己的兒子去，說：‘他們必尊敬我的兒子。’佃戶看見他的兒子，就彼此說：‘這是繼承產業的；來，我們殺了他，佔有他的產業吧！’於是他們抓住他，把他推出葡萄園外殺了。

那時，祭司長和民間的長老聚集在大祭司該亞法的官邸，商議怎樣用詭計逮捕耶穌，把他殺害。

“我責打你們的兒女也是沒用，因為他們不受管教。你們的刀劍，像滅命的獅子吞噬你們的先知。

公議會的人聽了，非常惱怒，就想要殺他們。

祭司長和公議會全體都想找假證供來控告耶穌，好把他處死；雖然有許多人前來作假證供，卻找不著證據。最後有兩個人前來說：“這人說過：‘我可以拆毀神的聖所，三日之內又把它建造起來。’”大祭司就站起來，對耶穌說：“你為甚麼不回答？這些人作證，控告你的是甚麼呢？”耶穌卻不作聲。大祭司又對他說：“我指著永生的神要你起誓，告訴我們你是不是基督、神的兒子。”耶穌回答：“你已經說了﹙“你已經說了”或譯：“這是你說的。”﹚；但我告訴你們：從今以後，你們要看見人子，坐在權能者的右邊，駕著天上的雲降臨。”大祭司就撕開衣服，說：“他說了褻瀆的話，我們還要甚麼證人呢？你們現在聽見了這褻瀆的話，認為怎樣呢？”他們回答：“他是該死的。”

先知、聖徒和地上一切被殺的人的血，都在這城裡找到了！”

耶和華說：“如果你與徒步的人同跑，尚且覺得疲倦，怎能跟馬賽跑呢？你在平安穩妥之地，尚且跌倒，在約旦河邊的叢林怎麼辦呢？因為連你的兄弟、你的父家，都以詭詐待你，連他們也在你後面高聲喊叫。雖然他們對你說好話，你也不可信他們。”

他們說：“來吧！我們來設計對付耶利米；因為祭司的律法、智慧人的謀略、先知的話都不會斷絕。來吧！我們用舌頭攻擊他，不理會他的一切話。”

其餘的抓住王的僕人，凌辱他們，並且把他們殺了。

這樣，你們就指證自己是殺害先知的人的子孫了。那麼，去完成你們祖先的罪孽吧！你們這些蛇，這些毒蛇所生的啊，你們怎能逃脫地獄的刑罰呢？因此，我差派先知、智慧人和經學家到你們那裡；有些你們要殺害又釘在十字架上，有些你們要在會堂裡鞭打，從一個城趕逐到另一個城。所以，從義人亞伯的血起，到巴拉加的兒子撒迦利亞的血為止，他就是你們在聖所和祭壇中間所殺的，所有義人在地上所流的血，都要歸在你們身上。

他們卻戲弄神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華的忿怒臨到他的子民身上，直到無法挽救。

至於我，我卻像一隻馴良的羊羔，被牽到屠宰之地；我並不知道他們設計謀害我。他們說：“我們來把這樹和果子（“果子”原文作“它的食物”）都毀滅吧，把它從活人之地剪除，使它的名不再被人記念。”但萬軍之耶和華啊！你是憑公義審判人，試驗人肺腑和心腸的。求你讓我看見你在他們身上施行的報復，因為我已經把我的案件向你陳明了。因此耶和華指責那些亞拿突人，他們尋索你命，向你恐嚇說：“不要奉耶和華的名說預言，免得你死在我們手中。”
