I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I will drive them.

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you,’ says Yahweh.

The Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. so that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men,and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.

His daughter- in- law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to giving birth. When she heard the news that God’s ark was taken and that her father- in- law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth; for her pains came on her.About the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her,“ Don’t be afraid, for you have given birth to a son.” But she didn’t answer, neither did she regard it.She named the child Ichabod, saying,“ The glory has departed from Israel!” because God’s ark was taken, and because of her father- in- law and her husband.She said,“ The glory has departed from Israel; for God’s ark has been taken.”

Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel an insult.”

in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.’“ Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says:‘ Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.

Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, turning aside, that they should not obey your voice.“ Therefore the curse and the oath written in the law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us; for we have sinned against him.

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

A curse will be taken up about them by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying,‘ Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;’
