庶幾聽從、改其惡行、我欲降災、以罰其罪、止而不行。

庶幾彼眾聽從、各舍惡途、則我心回意轉、不降我因其惡行所欲降彼之災、

Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.

Perhaps they will listen. Maybe they will turn from their evil ways. Then I will not do what I said I would. I will not bring trouble on them. I had planned to punish them because of the evil things they had done.

It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds.

我何时论到一邦或一国说，要拔出、拆毁、毁坏；我所说的那一邦，若是转意离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们。我何时论到一邦或一国说，要建立、栽植；他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必后悔，不将我所说的福气赐给他们。

你们要洗濯、自洁，从我眼前除掉你们的恶行，要止住作恶，学习行善，寻求公平，解救受欺压的；给孤儿伸冤，为寡妇辨屈。”耶和华说：“你们来，我们彼此辩论。你们的罪虽像朱红，必变成雪白；虽红如丹颜，必白如羊毛。你们若甘心听从，必吃地上的美物，

或者犹大家听见我想要降与他们的一切灾祸，各人就回头，离开恶道，我好赦免他们的罪孽和罪恶。”

再者，恶人若回头离开所行的恶，行正直与合理的事，他必将性命救活了。因为他思量，回头离开所犯的一切罪过，必定存活，不致死亡。以色列家还说：‘主的道不公平！’以色列家啊，我的道岂不公平吗？你们的道岂不是不公平吗？”所以主耶和华说：“以色列家啊，我必按你们各人所行的审判你们。你们当回头离开所犯的一切罪过。这样，罪孽必不使你们败亡。

亚哈听见这话，就撕裂衣服，禁食，身穿麻布，睡卧也穿着麻布，并且缓缓而行。

人与牲畜都当披上麻布；人要切切求告神。各人回头离开所行的恶道，丢弃手中的强暴。或者神转意后悔，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”于是神察看他们的行为，见他们离开恶道，他就后悔，不把所说的灾祸降与他们了。

“亚哈在我面前这样自卑，你看见了吗？因他在我面前自卑，他还在世的时候，我不降这祸；到他儿子的时候，我必降这祸与他的家。”

就祷告耶和华说：“耶和华啊，我在本国的时候岂不是这样说吗？我知道你是有恩典、有怜悯的神，不轻易发怒，有丰盛的慈爱，并且后悔不降所说的灾，所以我急速逃往他施去。

或者他们在耶和华面前恳求各人回头，离开恶道，因为耶和华向这百姓所说要发的怒气和忿怒是大的。”
