或许他们会听从我的话，改邪归正，那样我会施怜悯，取消原本用来惩治他们罪恶的灾祸。

庶幾聽從、改其惡行、我欲降災、以罰其罪、止而不行。

庶幾彼眾聽從、各舍惡途、則我心回意轉、不降我因其惡行所欲降彼之災、

Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.

Perhaps they will listen. Maybe they will turn from their evil ways. Then I will not do what I said I would. I will not bring trouble on them. I had planned to punish them because of the evil things they had done.

It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds.

当我宣布要铲除、推翻、毁灭哪一邦或哪一国的时候，如果他们悔过自新，我必施怜悯，取消我原本要降给他们的灾祸。当我宣布要建造、栽培哪一邦或哪一国的时候，如果他们做我视为恶的事，不听从我的话，我必改变心意，取消我原本要赐给他们的福气。

你们要洗净自己，停止作恶，不要让我再看见你们的恶行。你们要学习行善，追求正义，帮助受欺压的，替孤儿辩护，为寡妇申冤。”耶和华说：“来吧，我们彼此理论！你们的罪虽如猩红，也必洁白如雪；你们的罪虽如绯红，也必白如羊毛。如果你们愿意听从，就必享用这地方的美好出产。

或许犹大人听了我打算要降给他们的灾祸，便改邪归正，我就赦免他们的过犯和罪恶。”

倘若恶人离恶行义，他必救回自己的性命。因为他醒悟过来，痛改前非，必能活着，不致死亡。以色列人却说，‘主这样做不公平！’以色列人啊，是我的做法不公平呢？还是你们的做法不公平呢？“所以主耶和华说，‘以色列人啊，我必按你们各人的行为审判你们。你们要悔改，痛改前非，使你们不致死在罪恶中。

亚哈听了以利亚的话，就撕裂衣服，披麻禁食，睡觉也不脱下麻衣，垂头丧气地走来走去。

人和牲畜都必须披上麻衣，众人要向上帝恳切呼求，改邪归正，停止作恶。上帝或许会施怜悯，收回烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”上帝看见他们改邪归正，不再作恶，就怜悯他们，没有像所说的那样毁灭他们。

“你看见亚哈在我面前如何痛悔了吗？因为他在我面前痛悔，我不会在他有生之日降灾，我要等他儿子执政的时候，才降灾给他家。”

他向耶和华祷告说：“耶和华啊，我在家乡的时候岂不早就说过你会这样做吗？我知道你是一位有恩典、有怜悯的上帝，不轻易发怒，充满慈爱，不忍心降灾，所以我才急速逃往他施。

或许他们会改邪归正，恳求耶和华赦罪，因为耶和华说要向他们发烈怒。”
