Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.

Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and all the people,“ This man should be sentenced to death because he has prophesied against this city. You have heard it with your own ears!”

Then the priests and prophets spoke to the officials and all the people. They said,“ This man should be sentenced to death. He has prophesied against this city. You have heard it with your own ears!”

Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and to all the people,“ This man deserves the sentence of death, because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

The priests and prophets presented their accusations to the officials and the people.“ This man should die!” they said.“ You have heard with your own ears what a traitor he is, for he has prophesied against this city.”

Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people,“ This man deserves the death sentence because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the officials and to all the people, saying,“ A death sentence for this man! For he has prophesied against this city, just as you have heard with your own ears!”

And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying,“ This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people,“ This man deserves the death sentence because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

Then the priests and the prophets made their charges before the officials and all the people. They said,“ This man should be condemned to die because he prophesied against this city. You have heard him do so with your own ears.”

Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying,“ This man is worthy of death; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

Then the princes said unto the king, Let this man, we pray thee, be put to death; forasmuch as he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

But the prophet, that shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.

what think ye? They answered and said, He is worthy of death.

Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council,and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.

Yet, Jehovah, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me; forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight; but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thou with them in the time of thine anger.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews informed him against Paul; and they besought him,asking a favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem; laying a plot to kill him on the way.Howbeit Festus answered, that Paul was kept in charge at Cæsarea, and that he himself was about to depart thither shortly.Let them therefore, saith he, that are of power among you go down with me, and if there is anything amiss in the man, let them accuse him.And when he had tarried among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down unto Cæsarea; and on the morrow he sat on the judgment- seat, and commanded Paul to be brought.And when he was come, the Jews that had come down from Jerusalem stood round about him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove;while Paul said in his defence, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Cæsar, have I sinned at all.But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?But Paul said, I am standing before Cæsar’s judgment- seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.If then I am a wrong- doer, and have committed anything worthy of death, I refuse not to die; but if none of those things is true whereof these accuse me, no man can give me up unto them. I appeal unto Cæsar.Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed unto Cæsar: unto Cæsar shalt thou go.Now when certain days were passed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Cæsarea, and saluted Festus.

And the whole company of them rose up, and brought him before Pilate.And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, and saying that he himself is Christ a king.And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest.And Pilate said unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find no fault in this man.But they were the more urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judæa, and beginning from Galilee even unto this place.

They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil- doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.

But, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I entreat thee to hear us of thy clemency a few words.For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of insurrections among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:who moreover assayed to profane the temple: on whom also we laid hold:

And they gave him audience unto this word; and they lifted up their voice, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
