牧伯庶民謂祭司先知曰、斯人不當死、彼託我上帝耶和華名、言於我也、國中長老數人、起而告會眾曰、

惟沙番子亞希甘護佑耶利米、免付於庶民手、致之於死、

其中之牧伯、若狼攫而裂物、惟欲流血、殄滅人靈、以獲不義之利、

且以利拿單、第萊雅、基瑪利雅求王、勿焚其卷、而王弗聽、

牧伯奏王曰、斯人不求民利、惟求其害、請致之死、蓋彼所言、使邑中所遺之戰士庶民、厥手咸弱、西底家王曰、彼在爾手、王不能禦爾也、彼眾遂執耶利米、囚於王子瑪基雅之井、在護軍院內、以繩縋之下、井無水而有泥、耶利米乃陷於泥中、

猶大與耶路撒冷之牧伯、宦豎祭司、境內諸民、凡過剖犢之間者、

耶利米曰、妄哉、我不降迦勒底人、伊利雅弗聽、執耶利米、解至牧伯、諸牧伯怒耶利米、撻之、囚於繕寫約拿單室、蓋以此室為獄也、耶利米下獄、幽之於室多日、

以色列牧伯、各奮其力、流血於爾中、
