我又要使歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音，推磨的聲音和燈的亮光，從他們中間止息。

我又要止息他們歡喜和快樂的聲音、新郎和新娘的聲音、推磨的聲音和燈的亮光。

我要使他們的歡樂聲、新郎新娘的歡笑聲、推磨聲和燈光都消失。

我也必使歡躍的聲音和喜樂的聲音、新郎的聲音和新婦的聲音、推磨的聲音和燈的亮光、從他們中間都息滅掉。

且我必於其中、絕其歡欣喜樂之聲、新娶者及新婦之聲、旋磨之音、燈火之光、

不聞懽忭之言、新娶者及新婦之音、旋磨之聲不徹於外、燈火之光不耀於內、我使之然。

必使其中、再無欣喜之聲、歡樂之聲、新娶者之聲、新婦之聲、旋磨之聲、亦使再無燈光、

I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp.

I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness. I will put an end to the voices of brides and grooms. The sound of grinding millstones will not be heard anymore. And lamps will not be lit anymore.

Moreover, I will banish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the grinding of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

I will take away your happy singing and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will no longer be heard. Your millstones will fall silent, and the lights in your homes will go out.

I will eliminate the sound of joy and gladness from them— the voice of the groom and the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Moreover, I will eliminate from them the voice of jubilation and the voice of joy, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, to the glad celebration of brides and grooms in these lands. I will put an end to the sound of people grinding meal. I will put an end to lamps shining in their houses.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

那時，我必在猶大的城市中和耶路撒冷的街道上，使歡欣和快樂的聲音、新郎和新婦的聲音止息，因為這地必要變為荒場。”

我必使你唱歌的喧聲止息；人也再聽不到你的琴聲。

彈琴、奏樂、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！各樣手藝技工，在你中間決不能再找到了！推磨的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！燈的亮光，在你中間決不能再照耀了！新郎新娘的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！你的商人一向都是地上的大人物，萬國都因你的邪術受了迷惑。

因為萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘看哪！我必在你們眼前，在你們還活著的日子，使歡笑和快樂的聲音，新郎和新娘的聲音，都從這地方止息了。’”

“耶和華這樣說：‘論到這地方，你們說：“這地荒廢，沒有人煙，也沒有牲畜。”但在這荒涼、沒有人煙、沒有居民、也沒有牲畜的猶大各城和耶路撒冷的街上，必再聽見歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音；還要聽見那些帶著感恩祭到耶和華殿的人的聲音說：“你們要稱謝萬軍之耶和華，因為耶和華是至善的，他的慈愛永遠長存。”因為我必使這地被擄的歸回，像起初一樣。’”這是耶和華說的。

因為我和我的族人被人出賣，快要毀滅，被殺盡、滅絕了。我們若是只被賣為奴婢，我也必閉口不言，但王的損失是敵人不能補償的。”

文書上寫著：王准許在各城的猶大人，可以聚集起來，保護自己的性命；也可以毀滅、殺盡和滅絕那些敵對猶大人的各族和各省的勢力，包括婦孺，並且可以掠奪他們的財產；

日頭、光明、月亮、星宿變暗，雨後烏雲再現的時候。那時，看守房子的發抖，強壯的彎腰，推磨的稀少，都停了工，往窗外看的都昏暗了，當街的門口關閉，推磨的聲音微弱。雀鳥一叫，人就起來。唱歌的歌聲（“歌聲”原文作“女子”）都低微。

我必使她的一切歡樂、節期、新月、安息日，或任何盛會都終止。

新酒悲哀，葡萄樹衰殘，心中歡樂的，變為歎息。擊鼓的喜樂止息，宴樂者的喧嘩停止，彈琴的喜樂也止息了。他們不得再飲酒唱歌；喝濃酒的，必覺苦味。混亂的城破毀了，各家關門閉戶，使人不得進入。有人在街上因無酒呼喊；一切喜樂都已過去，地上的喜樂都消逝了。城門所剩下的只有荒涼，城門被撞得粉碎。

王旨交給眾驛使傳到王的各省，吩咐要在一日之內，在十二月，就是亞達月十三日，把所有的猶大人，無論老少婦孺，都全部毀滅、殺絕、除盡，並且搶奪他們的財產。
