I am against those who prophesy false dreams”— the LORD’s declaration—“ telling them and leading my people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people”— this is the LORD’s declaration.

耶和華曰、凡宣虛妄之夢、以為預言、且以誑言詡語惑我民者、我必攻之、我未遣之、亦未命之、彼不裨益斯民也、○

又曰、凡先知未奉我命、託言有夢、傳之於人、以厥妄誕、使民舛謬、有損於眾者、我必降罰。

主曰、凡先知未奉我遣我命、以幻夢為預言、傳述於人、又以誑言誇詐之詞、迷惑我民、使民無益者、我必罰之、此乃主所言、

Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares the Lord.“ They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least,” declares the Lord.

I am against prophets who talk about dreams that did not come from me,” announces the Lord.“ They tell foolish lies. Their lies lead my people astray. But I did not send these prophets. I did not appoint them. They do not help my people in the least,” announces the Lord.

Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the Lord, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the Lord.

I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin. I did not send or appoint them, and they have no message at all for my people. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the Lord,“ and reported them and led My people astray by their lies and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them nor command them, nor do they provide this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.

Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says the Lord,“ and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says the Lord.

Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith Jehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, saith Jehovah.

I am against those who prophesy false dreams”— the Lord’s declaration—“ telling them and leading My people astray with their falsehoods and their boasting. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people”— this is the Lord’s declaration.

Behold, I[ am] against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

I, the LORD, affirm that I am opposed to those prophets who dream up lies and report them. They are misleading my people with their reckless lies. I did not send them. I did not commission them. They are not helping these people at all. I, the LORD, affirm it!”

Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams,” says Yahweh,“ who tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting; yet I didn’t send them or command them. They don’t profit this people at all,” says Yahweh.

Your prophets saw visions for you that were empty and deceptive; they did not reveal your iniquity and so restore your fortunes. They saw pronouncements for you that were empty and misleading.

Her prophets are reckless— treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary; they do violence to instruction.

But look, you keep trusting in deceitful words that cannot help.

Didn’t you see a false vision and speak a lying divination when you proclaimed,“ This is the LORD’s declaration,” even though I had not spoken?“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: You have spoken falsely and had lying visions; that’s why you discover that I am against you. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not be present in the council of my people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, and they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.“‘ Since they have led my people astray by saying,“ Peace,” when there is no peace, and since when a flimsy wall is being built, they plaster it with whitewash,therefore, tell those plastering it with whitewash that it will fall. Torrential rain will come, and I will send hailstones plunging down, and a whirlwind will be released.When the wall has fallen, will you not be asked,“ Where’s the whitewash you plastered on it?”“‘ So this is what the Lord GOD says: I will release a whirlwind in my wrath. Torrential rain will come in my anger, and hailstones will fall in destructive fury.I will demolish the wall you plastered with whitewash and knock it to the ground so that its foundation is exposed. The city will fall, and you will be destroyed within it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.After I exhaust my wrath against the wall and against those who plaster it with whitewash, I will say to you,“ The wall is no more and neither are those who plastered it—those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw a vision of peace for her when there was no peace.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’“ Now you, son of man, face the women among your people who prophesy out of their own imagination, and prophesy against them.Say,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the women who sew magic bands on the wrist of every hand and who make veils for the heads of people of every size in order to ensnare lives. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own?

Youths oppress my people, and women rule over them. My people, your leaders mislead you; they confuse the direction of your paths.

“ If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,and that sign or wonder he has promised you comes about, but he says,‘ Let’s follow other gods,’ which you have not known,‘ and let’s worship them,’do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul.You must follow the LORD your God and fear him. You must keep his commands and listen to him; you must worship him and remain faithful to him.That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery, to turn you from the way the LORD your God has commanded you to walk. You must purge the evil from you.“ If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying,‘ Let’s go and worship other gods’— which neither you nor your ancestors have known,any of the gods of the peoples around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other—do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity, and do not spare him or shield him.Instead, you must kill him. Your hand is to be the first against him to put him to death, and then the hands of all the people.Stone him to death for trying to turn you away from the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.All Israel will hear and be afraid, and they will no longer do anything evil like this among you.“ If you hear it said about one of your cities the LORD your God is giving you to live in,that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said,‘ Let’s go and worship other gods,’ which you have not known,you are to inquire, investigate, and interrogate thoroughly. If the report turns out to be true that this detestable act has been done among you,you must strike down the inhabitants of that city with the sword. Completely destroy everyone in it as well as its livestock with the sword.You are to gather all its spoil in the middle of the city square and completely burn the city and all its spoil for the LORD your God. The city is to remain a mound of ruins forever; it is not to be rebuilt.Nothing set apart for destruction is to remain in your hand, so that the LORD will turn from his burning anger and grant you mercy, show you compassion, and multiply you as he swore to your ancestors.This will occur if you obey the LORD your God, keeping all his commands I am giving you today, doing what is right in the sight of the LORD your God.

“ I have heard what the prophets who prophesy a lie in my name have said:‘ I had a dream! I had a dream!’

Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are telling you,‘ Don’t serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying a lie to you.‘ I have not sent them’— this is the LORD’s declaration—‘ and they are prophesying falsely in my name; therefore, I will banish you, and you will perish— you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.’”Then I spoke to the priests and all these people, saying,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ Do not listen to the words of your prophets. They are prophesying to you, claiming,“ Look, very soon now the articles of the LORD’s temple will be brought back from Babylon.” They are prophesying a lie to you.Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon and live! Why should this city become a ruin?If they are indeed prophets and if the word of the LORD is with them, let them intercede with the LORD of Armies not to let the articles that remain in the LORD’s temple, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem go to Babylon.’For this is what the LORD of Armies says about the pillars, the basin, the water carts, and the rest of the articles that still remain in this city,those King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon did not take when he deported Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.Yes, this is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says about the articles that remain in the temple of the LORD, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem:‘ They will be taken to Babylon and will remain there until I attend to them again.’ This is the LORD’s declaration.‘ Then I will bring them up and restore them to this place.’”

This is what the LORD of Armies says:“ Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are deluding you. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the LORD’s mouth.

The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah,“ Listen, Hananiah! The LORD did not send you, but you have led these people to trust in a lie.Therefore, this is what the LORD says:‘ I am about to send you off the face of the earth. You will die this year because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.’”And the prophet Hananiah died that year in the seventh month.

“ Send a message to all the exiles, saying,‘ This is what the LORD says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite. Because Shemaiah prophesied to you, though I did not send him, and made you trust a lie,

Leave them alone! They are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

But the prophet who presumes to speak a message in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods— that prophet must die.’

But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image with these signs. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

Now when I planned this, was I of two minds? Or what I plan, do I plan in a purely human way so that I say“ Yes, yes” and“ No, no” at the same time?

On that day”— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ I will remove the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will banish the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.If a man still prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will say to him,‘ You cannot remain alive because you have spoken a lie in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and his mother who bore him will pierce him through.

This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says about Ahab son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, the ones prophesying a lie to you in my name:“ I am about to hand them over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, and he will kill them before your very eyes.Based on what happens to them, all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon will create a curse that says,‘ May the LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire!’because they have committed an outrage in Israel by committing adultery with their neighbors’ wives and have spoken in my name a lie, which I did not command them. I am he who knows, and I am a witness.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

I did not send out these prophets, yet they ran. I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied.If they had really stood in my council, they would have enabled my people to hear my words and would have turned them from their evil ways and their evil deeds.
