Among the prophets of Jerusalem also I saw a horrible thing: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, and none turns his back on evil. They are all like Sodom to me; Jerusalem’s residents are like Gomorrah.

I have also seen something horrible among Jerusalem’s prophets. They are not faithful to me. They are not living by the truth. They strengthen the hands of those who do evil. So not one of them turns from their sinful ways. All of them are like the people of Sodom to me. They are just like the people of Gomorrah.”

But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from his evil; all of them have become like Sodom to me, and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery and love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil so that no one turns away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.”

Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: The committing of adultery and walking in deceit; And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one has turned back from his wickedness. All of them have become to Me like Sodom, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

So they give encouragement to people who are doing evil, with the result that they do not stop their evildoing. I consider all of them as bad as the people of Sodom, and the citizens of Jerusalem as bad as the people of Gomorrah.

In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.”

If the LORD of Armies had not left us a few survivors, we would be like Sodom, we would resemble Gomorrah.Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

because they have committed an outrage in Israel by committing adultery with their neighbors’ wives and have spoken in my name a lie, which I did not command them. I am he who knows, and I am a witness.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

The conspiracy of her prophets within her is like a roaring lion tearing its prey: they devour people, seize wealth and valuables, and multiply the widows within her.

Her leaders issue rulings for a bribe, her priests teach for payment, and her prophets practice divination for silver. Yet they lean on the LORD, saying,“ Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will overtake us.”

For their vine is from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poisonous; their clusters are bitter.

But the LORD said to me,“ These prophets are prophesying a lie in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit of their own minds.

Then the LORD said,“ The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is immense, and their sin is extremely serious.

I am against those who prophesy false dreams”— the LORD’s declaration—“ telling them and leading my people astray with their reckless lies. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people”— this is the LORD’s declaration.

Her prophets are reckless— treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary; they do violence to instruction.

Let that man be like the cities the LORD demolished without compassion. Let him hear an outcry in the morning and a war cry at noontime

“ An appalling, horrible thing has taken place in the land.The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority. My people love it like this. But what will you do at the end of it?

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination,‘ Hear the word of the LORD!This is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing.Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

Because you have disheartened the righteous person with lies( when I intended no distress), and because you have supported the wicked person so that he does not turn from his evil way to save his life,therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will rescue my people from your hands. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”

But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

Therefore, this is what the LORD says: Ask among the nations, who has heard things like these? Virgin Israel has done a most horrible thing.

“ I have heard what the prophets who prophesy a lie in my name have said:‘ I had a dream! I had a dream!’How long will this continue in the minds of the prophets prophesying lies, prophets of the deceit of their own minds?

Their dead bodies will lie in the main street of the great city, which figuratively is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

A pronouncement: The word of the LORD to Israel through Malachi.

They keep on saying to those who despise me,‘ The LORD has spoken: You will have peace.’ They have said to everyone who follows the stubbornness of his heart,‘ No harm will come to you.’”

But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image with these signs. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw a vision of peace for her when there was no peace.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.’

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Each one helps the other, and says to another,“ Take courage!”The craftsman encourages the metalworker; the one who flattens with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good.” He fastens it with nails so that it will not fall over.

( Now the men of Sodom were evil, sinning immensely against the LORD.)

and if he reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is coming to the ungodly;

Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

They have eyes full of adultery that never stop looking for sin. They seduce unstable people and have hearts trained in greed. Children under a curse!They have gone astray by abandoning the straight path and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickednessbut received a rebuke for his lawlessness: A speechless donkey spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.These people are springs without water, mists driven by a storm. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.For by uttering boastful, empty words, they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them.

The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with every kind of miracle, both signs and wonders serving the lie,and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe the lie,

Your older sister was Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you, and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to the south of you.Didn’t you walk in their ways and do their detestable practices? It was only a short time before all your ways were more corrupt than theirs.“‘ As I live— the declaration of the Lord GOD— your sister Sodom and her daughters have not behaved as you and your daughters have.Now this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had pride, plenty of food, and comfortable security, but didn’t support the poor and needy.They were haughty and did detestable acts before me, so I removed them when I saw this.But Samaria did not commit even half your sins. You have multiplied your detestable practices beyond theirs and made your sisters appear righteous by all the detestable acts you have committed.You must also bear your disgrace, since you have helped your sisters out. For they appear more righteous than you because of your sins, which you committed more detestably than they did. So you also, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, since you have made your sisters appear righteous.

There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves.Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them.

But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars— their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
