“ Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.

“ Moreover, among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.

The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

因为引导这百姓的使他们走入迷途，被引导的都必被吞灭。

祭司从来不问：‘耶和华在哪里呢？’传讲律法的不认识我，官长违背我，先知藉巴力说预言，随从无益的东西。”

以利亚说：“使以色列遭殃的不是我，而是你和你的父家，因为你们离弃耶和华的诫命，去随从巴力。现在你要派人去召集以色列众人，以及耶洗别所供养的四百五十个巴力的先知和四百个亚舍拉的先知，叫他们都上迦密山到我这里来。”亚哈就派人到以色列众人那里，召集先知上迦密山。以利亚近前来对众百姓说：“你们心持二意要到几时呢？如果耶和华是上帝，就当顺从耶和华；如果是巴力，就当顺从巴力。”百姓一言不答。

降罚的日子近了，报应的时候已经来到。以色列必知道，先知愚昧，受灵感动的人狂妄，皆因你多多作恶，大怀怨恨。以法莲替我的上帝守望；至于先知，他所到之处都有捕鸟人的罗网，在他上帝的家中也遭人怀恨。

以利亚对他们说：“拿住巴力的先知，不让任何人逃走！”众人就拿住他们。以利亚带他们到基顺河边，在那里杀了他们。

玛拿西引诱犹大和耶路撒冷的居民行恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前所灭的列国更严重。

以利亚对巴力的先知说：“因为你们人多，先挑选一头牛犊，预备好了，求告你们神明的名，却不要点火。”他们把所给他们的牛犊预备好了，从早晨到中午，求告巴力的名说：“巴力啊，求你应允我们！”却没有声音，也没有回应。他们就在所筑的坛四围蹦跳。到了正午，以利亚嘲笑他们，说：“大声求告吧！因为它是神明，它或许在默想，或许正忙着，或许在路上，或许在睡觉，它该醒过来了。”他们大声求告，按着他们的仪式，用刀枪刺割自己，直到浑身流血。
