“ Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.

“ Moreover, among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.

The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

因為引導這百姓的使他們走入迷途，被引導的都必被吞滅。

祭司從來不問：『耶和華在哪裏呢？』傳講律法的不認識我，官長違背我，先知藉巴力說預言，隨從無益的東西。」

以利亞說：「使以色列遭殃的不是我，而是你和你的父家，因為你們離棄耶和華的誡命，去隨從巴力。現在你要派人去召集以色列眾人，以及耶洗別所供養的四百五十個巴力的先知和四百個亞舍拉的先知，叫他們都上迦密山到我這裏來。」亞哈就派人到以色列眾人那裏，召集先知上迦密山。以利亞近前來對眾百姓說：「你們心持二意要到幾時呢？如果耶和華是神，就當順從耶和華；如果是巴力，就當順從巴力。」百姓一言不答。

降罰的日子近了，報應的時候已經來到。以色列必知道，先知愚昧，受靈感動的人狂妄，皆因你多多作惡，大懷怨恨。以法蓮替我的神守望；至於先知，他所到之處都有捕鳥人的羅網，在他神的家中也遭人懷恨。

以利亞對他們說：「拿住巴力的先知，不讓任何人逃走！」眾人就拿住他們。以利亞帶他們到基順河邊，在那裏殺了他們。

瑪拿西引誘猶大和耶路撒冷的居民行惡，比耶和華在以色列人面前所滅的列國更嚴重。

以利亞對巴力的先知說：「因為你們人多，先挑選一頭牛犢，預備好了，求告你們神明的名，卻不要點火。」他們把所給他們的牛犢預備好了，從早晨到中午，求告巴力的名說：「巴力啊，求你應允我們！」卻沒有聲音，也沒有回應。他們就在所築的壇四圍蹦跳。到了正午，以利亞嘲笑他們，說：「大聲求告吧！因為它是神明，它或許在默想，或許正忙着，或許在路上，或許在睡覺，它該醒過來了。」他們大聲求告，按着他們的儀式，用刀槍刺割自己，直到渾身流血。
