The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

導斯民者誘之、凡被其所導者俱滅亡、

祭司不尋我、傳法者不識我、民牧悖逆我、先知託巴力之名而言、從無益之事、

曰、使以色列人遘災者、非我、乃爾及爾父之家、緣爾曹違棄主之誡命、信從巴力、今爾當遣人集以色列人眾、亦集耶洗別所供養四百五十事巴力之先知、與四百事亞舍拉之先知、咸至迦密山見我、亞哈遂遣人遍行以色列境、集以色列人眾與諸先知至迦密山、以利亞至民眾前曰、爾曹心持二意、何時乃己、如以主為天主、則從主、如以巴力為天主、則從巴力、民不答一言、

降罰之日速至、施報之日將臨、以色列人必知偽先知愚魯、自言感神者顛狂、皆因爾多犯罪惡、大懷怨恨、以法蓮在我天主外、他有所望、彼偽先知、在其諸道、猶若網羅、張設以陷、在其神廟、惟懷怨恨、

以利亞謂之曰、爾曹可執巴力之諸先知、勿使一人逃遁、遂執之、以利亞攜至基順溪、盡殺之、

乃瑪拿西誘猶大人及耶路撒冷居民行惡、較主在以色列人前所滅之諸族尤甚、

以利亞謂巴力之先知曰、爾曹人眾、可先選一犢、治備以獻、惟不縱火、呼籲爾神之名、於是巴力之先知、取所得之犢、治備之、自辰至午、呼巴力之名、曰、巴力乎、求爾應允我、然無聲響、無應者、乃舞於所築之壇上、亭午、以利亞戲之曰、可大聲而呼、彼實乃神、或凝思默想、或深入密室、或行路、抑或寢臥、爾必必或作當使之醒、遂大聲呼籲、循其常例、以刀槍自割自刺、致身流血、
