The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

導民者誘入迷途、受導者淪胥以亡、

祭司未言耶和華安在、講法律者不識我、民牧干罪於我、先知託巴力之名而預言、從無益之事、

對曰、困苦以色列者、非我也、乃爾及爾父家、緣爾離棄耶和華之誡命、從諸巴力、今當遣人集以色列眾、與巴力之先知四百五十人、及木偶之先知四百人、食於耶洗別之席者、至迦密山見我、亞哈遂遣人詣以色列眾、集諸先知、至迦密山、以利亞前謂民眾曰、爾持兩端、躊躇莫決、將至何時、如以耶和華為上帝、則從之、如以巴力為上帝、則從彼、民不答一詞、

懲罰之日既至、報施之日已來、以色列必知之、先知愚妄、感於靈者顚狂、因爾多罪、怨恨特甚、以法蓮之守望、上帝所立、而為先知、罹網羅於諸途、見怨於上帝家、

以利亞謂眾曰、執巴力之先知、毋使一人逸、遂執之、以利亞曳至基順溪、殺之於彼、○

瑪拿西誘猶大及耶路撒冷居民、致其行惡、較耶和華於以色列人前、所滅之族尤甚、

以利亞謂巴力之先知曰、爾曹眾多、先簡一牛備之、而籲爾神之名、惟不縱火、乃取所予之牛備之、自朝至午、籲巴力之名曰、巴力歟、其聽我、然無聲響、無應者、彼則踊於壇之四周、亭午、以利亞戲之曰、大聲而呼、彼乃神、或默想、或暫出、或遠行、或假寐、必使之醒、遂大聲而呼、以刃與戟自刺、迨及血流、循其常例、
