“ I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied in the name of Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.

Among the prophets of Samaria I saw something disgusting: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ Moreover, among the prophets of Samaria I saw an offensive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led My people Israel astray.

The LORD says,“ I saw the prophets of Samaria doing something that was disgusting. They prophesied in the name of the god Baal and led my people Israel astray.

“ I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

因为那些领导这人民的，使他们走错了路；那些被领导的，都必一片混乱。

众祭司都不问：‘耶和华在哪里？’律法师不认识我，官长悖逆我，先知奉巴力的名说预言，跟从那无益的偶像。

以利亚说：“给以色列惹麻烦的，不是我，而是你和你父的家；因为你们离弃了耶和华的诫命，又去随从巴力。现在你要派人去召集以色列众人和四百五十个巴力的先知，以及耶洗别供养的四百个亚舍拉的先知，都上迦密山来见我。”于是亚哈派人召集众以色列人和众先知上迦密山去。以利亚走近众人说：“你们三心两意，要到几时呢？如果耶和华是神，你们就应当随从耶和华；如果巴力是神，你们就应当随从巴力。”众人一句话也不回答。

惩罚的日子临近，报应的时候来到，以色列必定知道，因着你们众多的罪孽和深仇大恨，先知被看为愚昧，受灵感动的人被当作疯子。先知与神一同作以法莲的守望者，在他所行的一切路上，都满有捕鸟人的网罗，在他神的家中只有仇恨。

以利亚对他们说：“捉住巴力的先知，一个也不要让他们逃脱。”于是众人捉住他们。以利亚带他们下到基顺河边，在那里杀了他们。

可是玛拿西却引诱犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民行恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前除灭的列国更厉害。

以利亚对巴力的众先知说：“你们既然人多，可以先为自己选一头公牛；预备好了，就呼求你们神的名，但不要点火。”他们把人给他们的公牛牵了来，预备好了，就从早晨直到中午，呼求巴力的名，说：“巴力啊，应允我们吧！”可是没有声音，也没有回应。他们就在所筑的祭坛周围跳舞。到了中午，以利亚嘲笑他们，说：“大声呼求吧，因为他是神，也许他正在默想，或事务繁忙，或正在旅行，或正在睡觉，你们要把他叫醒。”他们就大声呼求，按着他们的规矩，用刀和枪刺自己，直到身体流血。
