如爾不聽斯言、耶和華曰、我指己而誓、此室必為荒蕪、

如爾不聽、我耶和華指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪。

如爾不聽斯言、主曰、我指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪、

But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”

But suppose you do not obey these commands,” announces the Lord.“ Then I promise you that this palace will be destroyed. You can be as sure of this promise as you are sure that I live.” ’ ”

But if you will not obey these words, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.

But if you refuse to pay attention to this warning, I swear by my own name, says the Lord, that this palace will become a pile of rubble.’”

But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by myself— this is the LORD’s declaration— that this house will become a ruin.’”

The Lord GOD has sworn by Himself, The Lord God of hosts says:“ I abhor the pride of Jacob, And hate his palaces; Therefore I will deliver up the city And all that is in it.”

For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,

and said:“ By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—

“ But if you will not heed Me to hallow the Sabbath day, such as not carrying a burden when entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.”’”

For I raise My hand to heaven, And say,“ As I live forever,If I whet My glittering sword, And My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, And repay those who hate Me.I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword shall devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the heads of the leaders of the enemy.”’

Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath,

And now, because you have done all these works,” says the Lord,“ and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer,therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to this place which I gave to you and your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob:“ Surely I will never forget any of their works.Shall the land not tremble for this, And everyone mourn who dwells in it? All of it shall swell like the River, Heave and subside Like the River of Egypt.

And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the houses of the people with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

Then they will answer,‘ Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this calamity on them.’”

Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest.

“ But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them,

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.”’”So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.Now it happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying,“ You will surely die!Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant’?” And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.

Say to them,‘ As I live,’ says the Lord,‘ just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in.

So I swore in My wrath,‘ They shall not enter My rest.’”

But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?
