But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by Myself”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ that this house will become a ruin.”

如爾不聽斯言、耶和華曰、我指己而誓、此室必為荒蕪、

如爾不聽、我耶和華指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪。

如爾不聽斯言、主曰、我指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪、

But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”

But suppose you do not obey these commands,” announces the Lord.“ Then I promise you that this palace will be destroyed. You can be as sure of this promise as you are sure that I live.” ’ ”

But if you will not obey these words, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.

But if you refuse to pay attention to this warning, I swear by my own name, says the Lord, that this palace will become a pile of rubble.’”

But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by myself— this is the LORD’s declaration— that this house will become a ruin.’”

But if you will not hear these words, I swear by Myself,” says the Lord,“ that this house shall become a desolation.”’”

But, if you do not obey these commands, I solemnly swear that this palace will become a pile of rubble. I, the LORD, affirm it!”

The Lord God has sworn by Himself— this is the declaration of Yahweh, the God of Hosts: I loathe Jacob’s pride and hate his citadels, so I will hand over the city and everything in it.

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself:

and said,“ By Myself I have sworn,” this is the Lord’s declaration:“ Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son,

If you do not listen to Me to consecrate the Sabbath day by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, I will set fire to its gates, and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem and not be extinguished.”

I raise My hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live forever,when I sharpen My flashing sword, and My hand takes hold of judgment, I will take vengeance on My adversaries and repay those who hate Me.I will make My arrows drunk with blood while My sword devours flesh— the blood of the slain and the captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.”

Because God wanted to show His unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath,

Now, because you have done all these things”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ and because I have spoken to you time and time again but you wouldn’t listen, and I have called to you, but you wouldn’t answer,what I did to Shiloh I will do to the house that is called by My name— the house in which you trust— the place that I gave you and your ancestors.

The Lord has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: I will never forget all their deeds.Because of this, won’t the land quake and all who dwell in it mourn? All of it will rise like the Nile; it will surge and then subside like the Nile in Egypt.

The Chaldeans next burned down the king’s palace and the people’s houses and tore down the walls of Jerusalem.

Then they will say: Because they abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They clung to other gods and worshiped and served them. Because of this, He brought all this ruin on them.

Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become ruins, and the hill of the temple mount will be a thicket.

However, if you turn away and abandon My statutes and My commands that I have set before you and if you go and serve other gods and worship them,

I will make this temple like Shiloh. I will make this city an object of cursing for all the nations of the earth.”The priests, the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the temple of the Lord.He finished the address the Lord had commanded him to deliver to all the people. Then the priests, the prophets, and all the people took hold of him, yelling,“ You must surely die!How dare you prophesy in the name of Yahweh,‘ This temple will become like Shiloh and this city will become an uninhabited ruin’!” Then all the people assembled against Jeremiah at the Lord’s temple.

Tell them: As surely as I live,” this is the Lord’s declaration,“ I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.Your corpses will fall in this wilderness— all of you who were registered in the census, the entire number of you 20 years old or more— because you have complained about Me.I swear that none of you will enter the land I promised to settle you in, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

So I swore in My anger,“ They will not enter My rest.”

But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

And who did He swear to that they would not enter His rest, if not those who disobeyed?
