This is what the Lord says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.

This is what the Lord says: Be fair minded and just. Do what is right! Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors. Quit your evil deeds! Do not mistreat foreigners, orphans, and widows. Stop murdering the innocent!

In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the foreigner and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

But Egypt will be desolate, Edom a desert waste, because of violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.

Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.But if out of hate someone lies in wait, assaults and kills a neighbor, and then flees to one of these cities,the killer shall be sent for by the town elders, be brought back from the city, and be handed over to the avenger of blood to die.Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you.

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.“ Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord.“ Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets,“ This man should not be sentenced to death! He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

Do not move an ancient boundary stone or encroach on the fields of the fatherless,

When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty.

The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me:‘ When one rules over people in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,

Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.Do not pervert justice or show partiality. but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.

“ Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!”
