“ Why is this man Jehoiachin like a discarded, broken jar? Why are he and his children to be exiled to a foreign land?

Is this man Coniah a despised, shattered pot, a jar no one wants? Why are he and his descendants hurled out and cast into a land they have not known?

This man, Jeconiah, will be like a broken pot someone threw away. He will be like a clay vessel that no one wants. Why will he and his children be forced into exile? Why will they be thrown out into a country they know nothing about?

Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which no one delights? Why are they cast out, he and his offspring, and cast into a land which they don’t know?

Israel is swallowed up; Now they are among the Gentiles Like a vessel in which is no pleasure.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

If I go out to the field, Then behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.’”

The sons of Shemaiah were Hattush, Igal, Bariah, Neariah, and Shaphat— six in all.The sons of Neariah were Elioenai, Hezekiah, and Azrikam— three in all.The sons of Elioenai were Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah, and Anani— seven in all.

Thus says the Lord:‘ Write this man down as childless, A man who shall not prosper in his days; For none of his descendants shall prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling anymore in Judah.’”

And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
