爾其陟利巴嫩而哀號、在巴珊揚聲、自亞巴琳哀號、蓋爾之情人皆亡矣、

必登利巴嫩而大呼、在巴山舉哀、在亞巴林呼號、蓋爾良朋已喪、

耶路撒冷民歟、爾當登利巴嫩而大呼、在巴珊發聲、在亞巴琳呼號、蓋愛爾者悉已敗亡、

“ Go up to Lebanon and cry out, let your voice be heard in Bashan, cry out from Abarim, for all your allies are crushed.

The Lord says,“ People of Jerusalem, go up to Lebanon. Cry out for help. Let your voice be heard in the land of Bashan. Cry out from the mountains of Abarim. All those who were going to help you are crushed.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan; cry out from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed.

Weep for your allies in Lebanon. Shout for them in Bashan. Search for them in the regions east of the river. See, they are all destroyed. Not one is left to help you.

Go up to Lebanon and cry out; raise your voice in Bashan; cry out from Abarim, for all your lovers have been crushed.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, And lift up your voice in Bashan; Cry from Abarim, For all your lovers are destroyed.

People of Jerusalem, go up to Lebanon and cry out in mourning. Go to the land of Bashan and cry out loudly. Cry out in mourning from the mountains of Moab. For your allies have all been defeated.

“ Go up to Lebanon, and cry. Lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers have been destroyed.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel.

She weeps bitterly in the night, And her tears are on her cheeks; She has no one to comfort her Among all her lovers. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; They have become her enemies.

“ Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Lord God says:‘ Behold I am going to incite your lovers against you, from whom you turned away in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side:

Why do you go around so much Changing your way? Also, you will be put to shame by Egypt, Just as you were put to shame by Assyria.From this place as well you will go out With your hands on your head; For the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust, And you will not prosper with them.”God says,“ If a husband divorces his wife And she leaves him And becomes another man’s wife, Will he return to her again? Would that land not be completely defiled? But you are a prostitute with many lovers; Yet you turn to Me,” declares the Lord.

And you, desolate one, what will you do? Although you dress in scarlet, Although you adorn yourself with jewelry of gold, Although you enlarge your eyes with makeup, In vain you make yourself beautiful. Your lovers despise you; They seek your life.

“ Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel as a possession.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations; and I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and hissing, and an everlasting place of ruins.

There is no one to plead your cause; No healing for your sore, No recovery for you.All your lovers have forgotten you, They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the punishment of a cruel one, Because your wrongdoing is great, And your sins are numerous.Why do you cry out over your injury? Your pain is incurable. Because your wrongdoing is great And your sins are numerous, I have done these things to you.

“ Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord,“ Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;Who proceed down to Egypt Without consulting Me, To take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh, And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!Therefore the safety of Pharaoh will be your shame, And the shelter in the shadow of Egypt, your humiliation.For their officials are at Zoan And their ambassadors arrive at Hanes.Everyone will be ashamed because of a people who do not benefit them, Who are not a help or benefit, but a source of shame and also disgrace.”The pronouncement concerning the animals of the Negev: Through a land of distress and anguish, From where come lioness and lion, viper and flying serpent, They carry their riches on the backs of young donkeys, And their treasures on camels’ humps, To a people who will not benefit them;Even Egypt, whose help is vain and empty. Therefore, I have called her“ Rahab who has been exterminated.”

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, And does not retract His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers, And against the help of the workers of injustice.Now the Egyptians are human and not God, And their horses are flesh and not spirit; So the Lord will stretch out His hand, And any helper will stumble, And one who is helped will fall. And all of them will come to an end together.

So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and gave it to all the nations to whom the Lord sent me, to drink from it:To Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, and its kings and its officials, to make them places of ruins, objects of horror, hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;To Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, and all his people;and to all the foreign people, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines( that is, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);To Edom, Moab, and the sons of Ammon;and to all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea;and to Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who trim the corners of their hair;and to all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the desert;and to all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;and to all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the earth which are on the face of the ground; and the king of Sheshach shall drink it after them.“ And you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the sword which I am sending among you.” ’

I called to my lovers, but they deserted me; My priests and my elders perished in the city While they sought food to restore their strength themselves.

Now the king of Egypt did not come out of his land again, because the king of Babylon had taken everything that belonged to the king of Egypt from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates.

Therefore, I handed her over to her lovers, to the Assyrians, after whom she lusted.

The wind will sweep away all your shepherds, And your lovers will go into captivity; Then you will certainly be ashamed and humiliated Because of all your wickedness.

Then they will be terrified and ashamed because of Cush their hope and Egypt their pride.So the inhabitants of this coastland will say on that day,‘ Behold, such is our hope, where we fled for help to be saved from the king of Assyria; and how are we ourselves to escape?’ ”
