爾以香柏之工競美、豈得因此為王乎、爾父式飲式食、秉公行義、而獲福祉、

耶和華曰、爾雖以柏香木為板、以示華美、豈得恆居王位。爾父日用飲食、躬行仁義、而享福祉、彼為貧乏伸冤、既識我道、遂得亨通、

爾以柏香木竭力建造宮室、豈因此能為王乎、爾父雖飲雖食、仍秉公行義而享福祉、

“ Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him.

“ Jehoiakim, does having more and more cedar boards make you a king? Your father Josiah had enough to eat and drink. He did what was right and fair. So everything went well with him.

Do you think you are a king because you compete in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.

But a beautiful cedar palace does not make a great king! Your father, Josiah, also had plenty to eat and drink. But he was just and right in all his dealings. That is why God blessed him.

Are you a king because you excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink and administer justice and righteousness? Then it went well with him.

Do you become a king because you are competing in cedar? Did your father not eat and drink And do justice and righteousness? Then it was well for him.

Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? then it was well with him.

Are you a king because you excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink and administer justice and righteousness? Then it went well with him.

Shalt thou reign, because thou closest[ thyself] in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice,[ and] then[ it was] well with him?

Does it make you any more of a king that you outstrip everyone else in building with cedar? Just think about your father. He was content that he had food and drink. He did what was just and right. So things went well with him.

“ Should you reign, because you strive to excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.

Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.

“ Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

The king establishes the land by justice, But he who receives bribes overthrows it.

Take away the wicked from before the king, And his throne will be established in righteousness.

Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, And your princes feast at the proper time— For strength and not for drunkenness!

Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.

And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

Whether it is pleasing or displeasing, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God to whom we send you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the Lord our God.”

Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people.

O house of David! Thus says the Lord:“ Execute judgment in the morning; And deliver him who is plundered Out of the hand of the oppressor, Lest My fury go forth like fire And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.

Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Thus says the Lord:“ Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,“ That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God.

He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure.

The sons of Josiah were Johanan the firstborn, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, and the fourth Shallum.

Mercy and truth preserve the king, And by lovingkindness he upholds his throne.

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:“ They shall not lament for him, Saying,‘ Alas, my brother!’ or‘ Alas, my sister!’“ They shall not lament for him, Saying,‘ Alas, master!’ or‘ Alas, his glory!’

Then they removed the burnt offerings that they might give them to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the lay people, to offer to the Lord, as it is written in the Book of Moses. And so they did with the cattle.Also they roasted the Passover offerings with fire according to the ordinance; but the other holy offerings they boiled in pots, in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them quickly among all the lay people.Then afterward they prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, because the priests, the sons of Aaron, were busy in offering burnt offerings and fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their places, according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer. Also the gatekeepers were at each gate; they did not have to leave their position, because their brethren the Levites prepared portions for them.So all the service of the Lord was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord, according to the command of King Josiah.And the children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.There had been no Passover kept in Israel like that since the days of Samuel the prophet; and none of the kings of Israel had kept such a Passover as Josiah kept, with the priests and the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing.So Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.Now Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal,ten fatted oxen, twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.

So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

Then Josiah gave the lay people lambs and young goats from the flock, all for Passover offerings for all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand cattle; these were from the king’s possessions.And his leaders gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand six hundred from the flock, and three hundred cattle.

But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Go, eat your bread with joy, And drink your wine with a merry heart; For God has already accepted your works.Let your garments always be white, And let your head lack no oil.Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
