You deceived me, Lord, and I was deceived. You seized me and prevailed. I am a laughingstock all the time; everyone ridicules me.

耶和华啊，你曾劝导我，我也听了你的劝导。你比我有力量，且胜了我。我终日成为笑话，人人都戏弄我。

耶和华啊，你欺哄了我，我也被你欺哄了。你比我强，并且得胜。我终日成为笑柄，人人都戏弄我。

耶和华啊，你欺骗我，我被你骗了。你制服我，胜过我。如今，我成了人们终日嘲笑、戏弄的对象。

耶和华啊！你愚弄了我，我受了愚弄；你比我强大，你胜了我。我整天成了别人讥笑的对象，人人都嘲弄我。

You deceived me, Lord, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me.

You tricked me, Lord, and I was tricked. You overpowered me and won. People make fun of me all day long. Everyone laughs at me.

O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.

O Lord, you misled me, and I allowed myself to be misled. You are stronger than I am, and you overpowered me. Now I am mocked every day; everyone laughs at me.

Lord, You persuaded me and I let myself be persuaded; You have overcome me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; Everyone mocks me.

O Lord, You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I am in derision daily; Everyone mocks me.

O Jehovah, thou hast persuaded me, and I was persuaded; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughing- stock all the day, every one mocketh me.

O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

LORD, you coerced me into being a prophet, and I allowed you to do it. You overcame my resistance and prevailed over me. Now I have become a constant laughingstock. Everyone ridicules me.

Yahweh, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day. Everyone mocks me.

I am a laughingstock to all my people, mocked by their songs all day long.

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by people.Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads:

because zeal for Your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.I mourned and fasted, but it brought me insults.I wore sackcloth as my clothing, and I was a joke to them.Those who sit at the city gate talk about me, and drunkards make up songs about me.

So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I left in bitterness and in an angry spirit, and the Lord’s hand was on me powerfully.

If I say,“ I won’t mention Him or speak any longer in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones. I become tired of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.

Then also, some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers argued with him. Some said,“ What is this pseudo-intellectual trying to say?” Others replied,“ He seems to be a preacher of foreign deities”— because he was telling the good news about Jesus and the Resurrection.

Or do Barnabas and I alone have no right to refrain from working?

For I think God has displayed us, the apostles, in last place, like men condemned to die: We have become a spectacle to the world and to angels and to men.We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!Up to the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty; we are poorly clothed, roughly treated, homeless;we labor, working with our own hands. When we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;when we are slandered, we respond graciously. Even now, we are like the world’s garbage, like the dirt everyone scrapes off their sandals.

The people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing:“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”The soldiers also mocked Him. They came offering Him sour wine

When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him. But others said,“ We’d like to hear from you again about this.”

and others experienced mockings and scourgings, as well as bonds and imprisonment.

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and scoffing at Him.

As for me, however, I am filled with power by the Spirit of the Lord, with justice and courage, to proclaim to Jacob his rebellion and to Israel his sin.

Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt, mocked Him, dressed Him in a brilliant robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

But I have not run away from being Your shepherd, and I have not longed for the fatal day. You know my words were spoken in Your presence.

‘ The Lord has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada the priest to be the chief officer in the temple of the Lord, responsible for every madman who acts like a prophet. You must confine him in the stocks and an iron collar.

Why has my pain become unending, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You truly have become like a mirage to me— water that is not reliable.

From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and harassed him, chanting,“ Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy!”

So Moses asked the Lord,“ Why have You brought such trouble on Your servant? Why are You angry with me, and why do You burden me with all these people?Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth so You should tell me,‘ Carry them at your breast, as a nursing woman carries a baby,’ to the land that You swore to give their fathers?Where can I get meat to give all these people? For they are crying to me:‘ Give us meat to eat!’I can’t carry all these people by myself. They are too much for me.If You are going to treat me like this, please kill me right now. If You are pleased with me, don’t let me see my misery anymore.”

But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; they gathered against me. Assailants I did not know tore at me and did not stop.With godless mockery they gnashed their teeth at me.

The days of punishment have come; the days of retribution have come. Let Israel recognize it! The prophet is a fool, and the inspired man is insane, because of the magnitude of your guilt and hostility.

Woe is me, my mother, that you gave birth to me, a man who incites dispute and conflict in all the land. I did not lend or borrow, yet everyone curses me.

Today, I am the One who has made you a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land— against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the population.They will fight against you but never prevail over you, since I am with you to rescue you.” This is the Lord’s declaration.

The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating Him.After blindfolding Him, they kept asking,“ Prophesy! Who hit You?”

So Moses went back to the Lord and asked,“ Lord, why have You caused trouble for this people? And why did You ever send me?Ever since I went in to Pharaoh to speak in Your name he has caused trouble for this people, and You haven’t delivered Your people at all.”

But I protested,“ Oh no, Lord, God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a youth.”Then the Lord said to me: Do not say,“ I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to deliver you. This is the Lord’s declaration.
