Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?

Why did I ever come out of my mother’s body? I’ve seen nothing but trouble and sorrow. My days will end in shame.

Why did I come out from the womb to see toil and sorrow, and spend my days in shame?

Why was I ever born? My entire life has been filled with trouble, sorrow, and shame.

Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?

Why did I ever come out of the womb To look at trouble and sorrow, So that my days have been spent in shame?

Why did I come forth from the womb to see labor and sorrow, That my days should be consumed with shame?

Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?

Why did I ever come forth from my mother’s womb? All I experience is trouble and grief, and I spend my days in shame.

Why did I come out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter[ in] soul;

Man[ that is] born of a woman[ is] of few days, and full of trouble.

I[ am] the man[ that] hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale[ that is told].The days of our years[ are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength[ they be] fourscore years, yet[ is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries[ are] all before thee.

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.We[ are] fools for Christ’s sake, but ye[ are] wise in Christ; we[ are] weak, but ye[ are] strong; ye[ are] honourable, but we[ are] despised.Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world,[ and are] the offscouring of all things unto this day.

O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

[ When] I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart[ is] faint in me.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire[ shall be] to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed[ is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat[ of] it all the days of thy life;Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou[ art], and unto dust shalt thou return.

[ Is it] nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted[ me] in the day of his fierce anger.

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart[ is] my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

And others had trial of[ cruel] mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of[ our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy[ are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or[ as] a thief, or[ as] an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.Yet if[ any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head[ there is] no soundness in it;[ but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
