Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?

Why did I ever come out of my mother’s body? I’ve seen nothing but trouble and sorrow. My days will end in shame.

Why did I come out from the womb to see toil and sorrow, and spend my days in shame?

Why was I ever born? My entire life has been filled with trouble, sorrow, and shame.

Why did I come out of the womb to see only struggle and sorrow, to end my life in shame?

Why did I ever come out of the womb To look at trouble and sorrow, So that my days have been spent in shame?

Why did I come forth from the womb to see labor and sorrow, That my days should be consumed with shame?

胡為賜光於受難者、賜生於苦心者、

由婦所生之人、時日短促、憂苦充盈、

因主忿怒之杖、而遭艱苦、我即其人兮、

願爾藏我於陰府、匿我於隱處、俟爾怒息、為我定期、而記念我、

故我儕宜負其辱、出營外就之、

深願得慰、免我憂戚、我心疲憊、

謂婦曰、我必增爾懷妊之苦、產育劬勞、爾必戀夫、夫必轄爾、謂亞當曰、爾既聽婦言、食我所禁之果、土必緣爾見詛、爾畢生勤勞、食其所產、土將為爾叢生荊棘蒺藜、汝所食者、田間之蔬、必汗流浹面、始可得食、迨爾歸土、蓋爾由土出、汝本為土、終則歸之、

凡過此者、斯豈於爾無涉乎、請觀我所遭之憂、何憂可比兮、耶和華於其震怒之日、所加於我兮、

使徒去公會而喜、以其為斯名受辱、主視之為宜也、

我誠語汝、爾將哭而哀、世將喜、爾將憂、然爾憂必易為樂也、

諳悉公義、服膺我法之民、尚其聽予、勿畏人侮、勿懼人毀、

又有受戲玩、鞭扑、縲絏、囹圄之試、

職是之故、我受諸苦而不恥、蓋識我所信者、且深信其能守我所託、以至乃日、

瞻望耶穌、即我信之始終、彼為陳於其前之樂、忍受十架、輕視恥辱、今得坐於上帝右、

爾須忍、致爾既行上帝旨、則得其所許、

若為基督名見詬、則福矣、蓋上帝有榮之神止於爾、爾中勿因兇殺、竊盜、惡行、妄預、而受苦、惟因為基督徒而受苦、則毋愧、乃緣此名歸榮上帝也、

自頂至踵、體無完膚、惟創與瘀、及新傷痕、未合未裹、未潤以油、
