但你們呢，這世代的人哪，你們要看明白永恆主的話。難道我對以色列竟成了曠野？或是極幽暗之地？我的人民為甚麼說：「我們漫遊無拘了；我們再也不來歸你了」？

斯世之人歟、當明耶和華之言、我於以色列族、豈為幽曠之野、杳冥之域乎、我民奚曰、我已放縱、不復詣爾、

斯世之人、宜聽我言、我眷佑以色列族、詎若幽曠之野、杳冥之域哉。何以我民放縱、不肯詣予。

爾曹斯代之人、當聽我言、我於以色列人、豈曾如曠野、豈曾如幽暗之地乎、我民何故言曰、我欲離約束自由、我欲離約束自由或作我欲飄流不復歸爾、

But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he abandoned God who made him, and rejected the Rock of his salvation.

lest I be full, deny you, and say,‘ Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.

You are already filled. You have already become rich. You have come to reign without us. Yes, and I wish that you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

Yahweh says,“ What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after worthless vanity, and have become worthless?They didn’t say,‘ Where is Yahweh who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’

Nathan said to David,“ You are the man. This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says:‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.I gave you your master’s house, and your master’s wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.Why have you despised Yahweh’s word, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said,“ Since people began to bring the offerings into Yahweh’s house, we have eaten and had enough, and have plenty left over, for Yahweh has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.”

Yahweh’s voice calls to the city, and wisdom sees your name:“ Listen to the rod, and he who appointed it.

who have said,“ With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation.Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be room enough for.I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before its time in the field,” says Yahweh of Armies.

I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn’t say to the offspring of Jacob,‘ Seek me in vain.’ I, Yahweh, speak righteousness. I declare things that are right.

“ Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing. Their clothes didn’t grow old, and their feet didn’t swell.Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted according to their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.You also multiplied their children as the stars of the sky, and brought them into the land concerning which you said to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.“ So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they pleased.They took fortified cities and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all good things, cisterns dug out, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were filled, became fat, and delighted themselves in your great goodness.

She will follow after her lovers, but she won’t overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them. Then she will say,‘ I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.’For she didn’t know that I gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.
