但你的神、你為自己所作的、在哪裏呢？你遭遇患難時，他們若能拯救你，你叫他們起來吧！唉，猶大啊，你的神就等於你城市的數目那麼多呀！

爾所造之神安在乎、彼若能援爾於難、則任其起而為之、猶大歟、爾神之數、等於爾邑、○

猶大人與、爾之眾邑、各事一上帝、其數相等、所作之像安在、盍使彼並起、拯救爾曹。

爾所作諸神安在、爾遭患難時、何不起而救爾、猶大歟、爾神之數、與爾邑之數相等、

Then where are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come when you are in trouble! Let them save you if they can! Judah, you have as many gods as you have towns.

He will say:“ Now where are their gods, the rock they took refuge in,

“ Gather together and come; assemble, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood, who pray to gods that cannot save.

Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

The people from Babylon made Sukkoth Benoth, those from Kuthah made Nergal, and those from Hamath made Ashima;the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire as sacrifices to Adrammelek and Anammelek, the gods of Sepharvaim.

They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer; it cannot save them from their troubles.

Israel was a spreading vine; he brought forth fruit for himself. As his fruit increased, he built more altars; as his land prospered, he adorned his sacred stones.
