“我們的神啊，你是至大、全能、至可畏、守約施慈愛的神，現在求你不要把我們、我們的君王和領袖、我們的祭司和先知、我們的列祖和你的眾民，從亞述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切苦難，看為小事。在一切臨到我們身上的事上，你都是公義的；因為你所行的是信實的，我們所行的是邪惡的。我們的君王和領袖，我們的祭司和列祖，都沒有遵行你的律法，也沒有留心聽從你的誡命和你向他們鄭重的警告。

從我們列祖的日子直到今日，我們罪惡深重，由於我們的罪孽，我們和我們的王，以及祭司，都被交在各地的列王手中：被刀殺、被擄掠、被搶奪，丟臉蒙羞，就像今天的光景一樣。

這是因為以色列人和猶大人的一切惡行，就是他們和他們的君王、領袖、祭司、先知，以及猶大每一個人和耶路撒冷居民所行的，都惹我發怒。

盜賊因飢餓偷竊充飢，人不會鄙視他。但如果他被捉住，就要七倍償還，要把他家裡所有的財物都交出來。

你們必因你們所喜愛的橡樹抱愧，必因你們所選擇的園子蒙羞。

沒有聽從你的僕人眾先知，他們奉你的名向我們的君王、領袖、列祖和國中所有的人民說話。主啊！你是公義的；我們滿面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你趕逐到遠近各地的以色列眾人，都因對你不忠而滿面羞愧。耶和華啊！我們和我們的君王、領袖、列祖，都滿面羞愧，因為我們得罪了你。

從我們幼年以來，我們列祖勞苦得來的，他們的牛羊，他們的兒女，都給那可恥的偶像吞掉了。但願我們躺臥在羞恥中，讓慚愧遮蓋著我們！因為我們得罪了耶和華我們的神，從我們幼年直到現在，我們和列祖都沒有聽從耶和華我們的神的話。”

那麼，你們在現今以為羞恥的事上，當時得了甚麼呢？那些事的結局就是死。

摩押啊，以色列不是曾經成為你譏笑的對象嗎？它豈是被捕獲的強盜，以致你每逢提到它，總是搖頭嘲笑。

你為甚麼要東奔西跑，改變你的路向呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像你從前因亞述受辱一樣。
