萬有之主耶和華曰、爾犯罪違道、必遭刑譴、俾爾知、遐棄我躬、不畏我威者、必備嘗艱苦。

爾之惡行、使爾受刑、爾之違逆、使爾受譴、爾可知可見爾棄主爾之天主、不敬畏我、必至遭難受苦、此乃主萬有之天主所言、

You will be punished because you have sinned. You will be corrected for turning away from me. I am the Lord your God. If you desert me, bad things will happen to you. If you do not respect me, you will suffer bitterly. I want you to understand that,” announces the Lord who rules over all.

Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, declares the Lord God of hosts.

Your wickedness will bring its own punishment. Your turning from me will shame you. You will see what an evil, bitter thing it is to abandon the Lord your God and not to fear him. I, the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!

Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Recognize how evil and bitter it is for you to abandon the LORD your God and to have no fear of me. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD of Armies.

The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They don’t hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with them.

“ Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness; for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”

I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.

A revelation is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked:“ There is no fear of God before his eyes.”

“ Haven’t you brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken Yahweh your God, when he led you by the way?

Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.

My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.

Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.

Yahweh says,“ Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? Or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away for your transgressions.

Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh‘ Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

Israel, return to Yahweh your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.

When Jehudi had read three or four leaves, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.

Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding.“ Behold, we have come to you; for you are Yahweh our God.

For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow.

The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.

But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.“ Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth;yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.

Why then have the people of Jerusalem fallen back by a perpetual backsliding? They cling to deceit. They refuse to return.

Yahweh said to me,“ Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,‘ Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh;‘ I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh.‘ I will not keep anger forever.Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’ says Yahweh.”“ Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh;“ for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king,“ Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.I said after she had done all these things,‘ She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return; and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its hedge, and it will be eaten up. I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled down.
