I will devastate this city and make it an object of horror and scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds.

I will completely destroy this city. I will make it a horrible thing. People will make fun of it. All those who pass by it will be shocked. They will laugh at its people because of all their wounds.

All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying,“ Is this the city that men called‘ The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say,“ We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found it. We have seen it.”

I will bring the land into desolation, and your enemies that dwell in it will be astonished at it.

Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh.“ Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on a nation such as this?I will weep and wail for the mountains, and lament for the pastures of the wilderness, because they are burned up, so that no one passes through; Men can’t hear the voice of the livestock.
