這就是那素來歡躍的城，她自以為安穩而居住着，心裏想着說：『我、我以外再沒有別的。』如今怎麼竟變為荒涼，竟成了野獸的躺臥處啊！凡從那裏經過的都必摇手嗤笑她！

所有過路的人都拍掌嘲笑你；他們都向耶路撒冷小姐嗤笑搖頭說；『難道人所稱為十全十美、全地所喜悅的、就是這城麼？』你的仇敵都抿着嘴來調弄你；他們嗤笑着又切齒着，說：『我們吞滅了她了！啊！這正是我們所盼望的日子呀！我們得到了！我們看到了！』

我必使你們的國土荒涼，甚至你們的仇敵住在裏面的也驚訝。

永恆主發神諭說：我豈不因這些事而施察罰呢？這樣的國我豈不加以報復呢？『為了山嶺、你們要哭泣舉哀，為了野地的草場、你們要揚聲唱哀歌；因為都已倒壞，無人經過；牲畜的聲音都聽不到；無論空中的飛鳥、以至地上走獸、全都逃跑了。』我必使耶路撒冷變成亂堆，作為野狗的住處；我必使猶大的城市荒涼，無人居住。

就是耶路撒冷和猶大的城市，它的列王和首領，使這些城市荒廢，成了令人驚駭、令人嗤笑咒詛的對象，正如今日一樣的；
